Automotive Quiz
Ok, in another thread a few of us have been enjoying Auto Trivia, so I thought I would make a forum.
First Q:
What was the name of the company and car produced from 1962-1964 (officially) and by privateer companies until 1991. The car had 4 performance levels to choose from including the top of the line with 330 supercharged HP. The car also set numerous stock car records at Bonneville. One version never made it to production, but the concept produced over 575 hp using twin superchargers and fuel injection! The bodies were made of fiberglass and original orders exceeded those of the also new Corvette.

OK, how about this one; What sports car was developed by two companies that merged, and created this beautiful car, that was so poorly marketed that not many new about it, and hence didn't sell well?

we all can answer that one.
My "cool" and reasonably wealthy uncle had an Avanti in the early/mid sixties. I remember how amazing it looked. And how it made him even cooler.
Added moment of nostalgia:
I also remember building a model of it (Revell, Monogram?) as a kid. It was the good one that had doors and hood that opened and steerable front wheels. Though it was over 40 years ago, I can be certain of one thing about that model...
I'm sure I screwed up the paint job in some way or another. Painting wasn't my strong suit.

Try this one...
Under what brand name was this affordable, exotically styled mid-engine 2 seater from Italy sold after being dropped as a model by its original brand?

I can't believe someone mentioned a Studebaker, Boy does that bring back memories. My 1st car a '51 Studebaker flat head straight six. One of the best most reliable ahead of its time cars I ever had.

I'm going with the Pantera, but I can't remember who sold them after Ford dropped em.

Hmmm,
It was probably some kind of AMC (Eagle). I know back in the day they used a lot of Ford GM parts instead of developing their own. I'm not sure model though.

Good stuff here. I didn't know the Bertone X19 one. Love learning new stuff.
The Avanti was a no brainer. Actually I believe Zimmer still offered an Avanti up unto very recently. There was a Zimmer dealer about 25 miles from me, that had them in the showroom until a couple of years ago. The dealer has since given up the franchise and sell only used cars now. Perhaps Zimmer finally kicked it? I'll have to investigate that one...

Okay guys, here's an interesting one...
The late 90's Land Rovers that featured the 4.0 Liter (265 cu in) V8 was originally developed by what company? And what sister company used in what car? And what made it different than other V8's at the time and now for that matter...
