There it is, a different car. I decided to get it on the road again. Now I can own a crossfire and go fast, the best of both worlds.

That's NOT a ZR-1. Wrong wheels, and no rear fender buldges...

If you want to go fast, then ya shoulda gotta SRT-6.

By todays standards, I would hardly call an older C4 fast.

No offense...

Here's my little sleeper...
It's definitely fun to row through the gears now and then, but it is far from the comforts of a crossfire!

Hmmm,

A Fox Body with 5-Lug Hubs! That looks to have something fun underhood.

Nah, it's all stock - promise!

This particular car was a 2.3L 4cyl/Auto when I got it. Here's some 'before and after' pictures:

I bought a wrecked v8/5spd car and did the full swap, everything from fuel lines to brakes, rearend, etc...and a TON of cleaning. Fun project. And CHEAP!

Lets just say that 5 of my crossfire payments will equal the amount of money I have tied up in this mustang, literally. And I only paid $16.5k for the crossfire. You do the math!

The 5 lug conversion was done using parts from a 94-95 cobra. The 4 wheel disc brakes really help over the previous disc front/drum rear. It all pretty much bolts on, which is the beauty of fox body mustangs. The 5 lug conversion allows a lot more wheel choices as well. Plus, I love the 94/95 cobra wheels (the ones on it), so I had to do it.

(don't mind the brake line laying down below the frame - I happened to be securing it that day with the correct push-plugs and didn't notice it in the pic, doh)!

That pic shows the 5.0 in stock form right after I installed it. I don't have any current pics after cleaning it all up...but it is mostly stock with a few bolt ons, 4.10 rearend gears, etc. It would smoke a stock XFire and MIGHT have a chance with a stock SRT on a good-traction day! Funny thing is...when driving it, it feels 10x faster than the SRT's I've driven because it is much louder. I'm not used to driving fast cars that are quiet!

My other one is a bit more of a long term 'project'. I got it when I was 18 (I'm 24 now), barely running. I've since found all the parts to complete the exterior, re-built the engine, shaved and painted the engine bay, etc...

I did the same 5 lug swap, but haven't done the discs in the back yet. The wheels are 18"x9" Roush wheels. It obviously needs paint...and you can see the future color in the engine bay. All of the work was done by me, including the 'shaving' in the engine bay to get rid of the swiss cheese that they come with from the factory. I'm not sure why Ford drilled all of those useless holes under the hood??

The goal of both of them is more geared towards corner carving or just enjoyable street driving. I'm not much of a 1/4mile fan.

The gray car, when finished, will have some show and go. The red car is more of a fun daily driver. It is kind of a 'his and hers' deal, or will be some day!

I had a complete twin-turbo kit before I bought the red one. I was going to put it on the gray/blue car, but ran out of money for the fuel system. On a stock block with all stock internals, and two T3 turbos (same ones that came on the old T-bird turbocoupes or SVO 4cyl turbo mustangs), you can put down 450 hp to the wheels with the right fuel system. The problem is longevity - that stock 302 block can't hold that power for too long...several guys have split them right down the middle doing the same thing. 14psi will hurt after a while! lol

I raced Karts as a kid, and it got me hooked on the twistys. I've yet to Auto-X a full size car yet. Honestly, I'm a little scared to start because I'll probably be addicted!

Seems like since I had the house built, got my own garage, etc - the work has ceased on the mustangs! Now I'm hooked on crossfires...so who knows if I'll ever 'finish' either of them!

My cousin just did similar swap with a '91 Convertible 6 Cylinder. He swaped out the entire drivetrain from a wrecked '96 Cobra, right down to the 4.6 DOHC motor. Very nice!
