Default Howdy from this Newbie

Howdy, glad to have found this wonderful forum! We purchased our '05 Crossfire Limited Roadster two weeks ago...our first true sports car. I haven't driven it much, we just moved up to NC from TX and figured it was time to trade in our Jeeps since we weren't going to have to deal with high water anymore. LOL! We purchased an '07 Dodge Nitro RT at the same time and the first unit delivered had major transmission problems so the wife has been taking the roadster to work every day. We resolved that problem yesterday with the delivery of a whole new Nitro so today was my first full day with the "Flash". Pictures will be posted shortly although it won't be anything new...it is all stock at the moment...but still a joy to drive and be seen in.
We hope to be in contact with everyone at some point...are there any other Crossfire owners in or near Raleigh/Cary/Apex/Chapel Hill/Durham?
Would like to meet, greet, and talk with any other local owners...just tell me where and when we can rally!

Howdy and Thanks! I didn't and probably still don't know more than the basics about these cars. I hope I will get a thorough education on this site from knowledgeable owners and drivers. Everything is oh so interesting so far. Also looking forward to enhancing the car and our enjoyment of the same through better understanding. Thanks again!
We have an '05 Limited Roadster in Crystal Red Clearcoat with Dark Gray Leather. It had 14,000 miles at purchase and is in near perfect condition. I just ordered a new speaker grill for the passenger door as it was perforated and I'm looking forward to adding a dash kit as soon as I can make up my mind between woodgrain or one of the graphite kits. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Check with member SRT SIX. His coatings are outstanding. There is a thread on here that tells all about the colors, styles, etc.

Yeah, woodgrain is a little passé these days...unfortunately a nice deep burl would look good with the crystal red paint...in the end I agree NO WOODGRAIN.
I'll have to see if I can find the thread mentioned above.
Thanxs!

Welcome to our little slice of the internet and congrats on the new ride.

I too have a 2005...mine's a roadster with the dark gray interior...Looks great when it's all done up in a full coat of Armor All! (someone warn me if I'm steppin on andrew's toes).

I'd wait and give it a little time before I changed anything...these cars have a habit of growing on you!

Just my opinion though!

I will but the silver does show a little wear in a couple of places on the console. I ordered a new speaker grill today...someone knocked the passenger side. And I'm hooking up with a professional tomorrow to see about getting some of the obligatory paint scratches/chips taken care of. Mostly door sill on the driver side, but there is about a one inch area that needs to be re-done on the passenger door edge. I just noticed that one today.
THANX!
Have to ask this question...where do you find the build number? How do you identify the particulars on these. Ours is an '05 but apparently was an early model that went into service in '04...I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY because of that. Figure that should pay for itself in the long run. Probably one repair on the top mechanism would cost about that much, LOL!

The build number is represented by the last 6 digits of the vin # if I am not mistaken. As far as modifications I highly recommend "Rotex Gold brake pads".
They produce no brake dust as the ones from the factory do. They are available at www.brakeworld.com
I also installed dual K&N air filters in mine.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new car !!!

I saw the "Howdy" and thought you might be a fellow Texan. I just bought mine last Friday and love it. I traded a Mercedes ML320 4x4 for it. The water is starting to receed so I thought it was safe to switch to a Crossfire. For those who live in Texas, it was pretty funny to see a new movie about Noah get released just as we where getting about 10 inches of rain per day!

Well howdy back! We moved from Houston to Raleigh recently. My wife's work brought us here. She's Houston born I am actually from NE Kansas. Moved to Houston in '81. Right about now I'm missing the rain and the food, LOL! Congrats on your purchase! Fun isn't it!
This is our first true sports car...as far as I'm concerned it's not a sports car unless you can pop the top so good choice on the roadster. I'm hoping to catch up to some other owners here to rally, cruise and show and shine with...it's amazing how many people don't know what these cars are!
I stopped at a furniture store today to poke around and returned to the front to hear three of the salespeople standing on front of the window discussing what make my car was.
My other goal is that now I'm retired I'd really like to maybe pick up another x-fire and start doing some autocross racing. That was an earlier dream that was never realized even though I went through the Bondurant Drivers Course. Although that driving experience came in handy later when I got into the film business in Houston.
Hmmm, from a Merc to a Merc in Chrysler clothing...still a good trade I think!
Glad your not floating...and equally glad our house sold quickly before all the rain really kicked in...that's some coincidence about the Noah movie release as you were getting all that rain. Not sure exactly where you are in relation to Houston but some of my friends in Houston tell me they are real unhappy about all the wetness. We are about to start water rationing here it's so dry. Thought we were going to get a little soaker last night but it just made a little noise and knocked the power out for about thirty minutes.
Gotta run, it sounds like my sisters on the phone. Hoping here daughter delivered today. We have a reunion in two weeks so it'll be nice to have a new addition to celebrate.
Talk to you later!
Terry

OOPS! Looks like I misspoke, apologies. You have a Coupe not the roadster...well wouldn't be the first time I put my foot in my mouth instead of on the accelerator. Thanks for the link on the brake pads...that seems to be a unanimous choice as a mod and definitely something to consider. Any troubles using the autostik to do a little engine braking to conserve pads? I've found a couple roads that are fairly free to do a little practicing without hassle or endangering anyone else.
Can you tell me what rebadging is?
Thanks,
Terry

Ah...great mod and worth doing...beautiful coupe! I looked at two white models, one with a red interior and one with gray. My dealership just got a new batch of used X-fires and what a great array of colors. There is a red with gray/white interior that looks beautiful. I'm sure hard to keep clean but who doesn't clean these cars after each use? Two weeks and I've already rinsed, wiped and vacuumed three times...can't let anything build up! I actually asked if they could change my interior out for that one...it showed each detail wonderfully in that combination.
Thanks!
Terry
