I tried to catch up to him to tell him the last time I was in Vegas I rented a Prowler just like his, (a lie) but we all know what traffic is like on Woodward and I never caught up to him.
Since I've owned a "Nash" for over 37 years, I've pretty much heard every derogatory comment out there, so nothing much ever gets to me. Actually some of them are pretty funny.
I might be wrong but coming from the east coast I would think there is a good deal of "Made in The USA" and "The Big Three" hormones raging at the Woodward Dream cruise and they were just reacting to your car as a Foreign Car. Having never been there are there many foreign cars that take part or is it mostly Hot Rods and Muscle Cars? Whatever the badge says the car nut knows its a Benz.

However, there are a lot of Lambos, Ferraris, Jags, Lotus, and even the Scion owners had a big GTG. Saw a good bit of MBs and BMWs too.
Never expected to get 'heckled' in my SRT6, that's for sure.
I am moving to the little town I grew up in at the end of the month and I am REALLY hoping no one messes with my car...I think I may need to start parking it in the yard. I wish a million times we had a garage...at least it is a temporary move.
One of the things I have noticed at a lot of the car shows is the "muscle car" mentality. They accept the Prowler because of its retro-rod look and of course the Corvette and Mustang because they are and have been members of the group forever.
I was getting dissed pretty bad and had several laughing til we compared 0-60 times and quarter miles. Then their taunting turned to disbelief and "no way". I told them to look it up, and they just generally walked away and left me alone.
A good part is obviously envy. In one show the others complained about the appearance of my car they said it looked too nice because it was essentially new. Never mind the fact that I had one of the least expensive cars there, because of all the money spent on rebuilding and customizing their rides.
I try not to let it bother me because when the public is looking at the cars, I always get the head nods and "nice ride" from them. The fact that I went home with trophies probably irked them a bit as well.
