Continental Tire Problems
Continental Tire Problems
Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with heavy tires (aka out of round).
I've gone through two tires back to back that were faulty. I'm getting replacements but they're the same kind, I'm stuck with what discount tires and the chrysler dealership warranties. Conti's are now made in Czech Republic instead of Germany.

Re: Continental Tire Problems
I bought my Crossfire over the Internet and the phone, car was everything the dealer said it was - EXCEPT the tires - Conti touring - both rears had and 1" to 2" crack in the sidewalls and the fronts had them but smaller. Didn't notice till I got the car home - 300 miles, needless to say the tires were trashed quick - got Goodyear FS1's. My '97 Audi cab came with Conti's, they were awful in the rain - went with Firestone's - softer rubber compound quieter and held corners well.
Re: Continental Tire Problems
conti extreme contacts here ... no problems ...
how long have you been driving on them ? perhaps having them balanced on a road-force balancer by properly trained tech would solve your out of balance issue as that machine takes into account the balance of the tire and wheel separately and allows the tech to rotate the tire on the wheel until they are as perfectly balanced as possible without the use of weights ... then the final run is for adding weights ... a lazy tech will never do this however as rotation of the tire on the wheel is a physical chore they do not enjoy.
just mentioning in case ... not necessarily cause that is the case.

Re: Continental Tire Problems
I had Discount tires road-force my tires and they were bad, chrysler said there was nothing wrong with them. But I have actual data from DT showing they're faulty. Once these fronts are worn, im never going back to continental. I have some flame tread G-forces in the back that work great, so maybe I'll match the fronts in a few months.

Re: Continental Tire Problems
Conti Sport Contact 2's.
Front right wore down to 2.3mm tread at 30,000km. It was even wear across the tread.
Front left still had 6.5mm tread of the 8mm tread depth on a new tyre. For the first time ever I replaced only the one tyre not a pair.
Rear tyres still have average 5mm tread remaining.
I can't complain, but I don't know why one tyre wore more than the others.
PS. Contis are "Engineered in Germany" but have manufacturing plants in a number of countries.
