I bought a new Crossfire coupe base model about a month ago from the Chrysler dealer in Grapevine Texas. As you can tell from it being a base model it is black (since they all are) I had looked at a limited about a month before but found it not to have enough head room (I am 6' 3") . I found like other people have that the non electric seats sit lower and have more head room. I had set a limit of $20,000 for a car this time and did not think I could get a Crossfire. I was shocked to see a add in the local paper for $12,000 off msrp. That made the car I bought about $18,200 cheaper than the Honda si and the Rabbit GTI that I was looking at. So far I am very pleased with the car. I have had a window adjusted and now my radio is messing up but. those are minor compared with the enjoyment I am getting out of it for the price I paid.

Welcome aboard. I too am tall and needed the height-adjustable seats. But with a ragtop, it's even better! Did you get the 7/70 drivetrain warranty with yours? I'm kinda' curious how new (2nd and 3rd) owners are pursuing this. You have 30 days to find out. Call or visit your dealer with the VIN to check.

You can read a post of mine...

to hear my story.

Have fun...

I was told 2nd owners can transfer the 7/70 for $150 (which I did.) Third owners are not eligible. But Chrysler will sell you an extended warranty...

Ok it was a new 2006 crossfire that I bought with 27 miles on it I did not get the lifetime powertrain warranty. It came with the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper and I extended the warranty to 70,000. Of course this cost me an extra $2,000 dollars with brought the total of the car to $20,000 still not a bad deal for this kind of car. I did get a surprise in the mail the service contract for the oil changes. I did not expect to get this I called and ask if I was covered since the car takes mobil 1 they told me that if the contract was issued for the car then the oil change coupons where good and the dealer would have to use the oil specified for the car.
Thanks for the replies I will take some photos Later.

Sounds exactly like my situation. I just purchased a 'new' 2006 base coupe because of the lifetime powertrain warranty. In fact the warranty was the deciding factor in buying a new Crossfire now. I was planning on getting a low mileage used XF in a few years.

There seems to be differing opinions about the warranty on new 2006 Crossfires. I am under the impression that they qualify for it. My bill of sales has it written on it.

Also the Chrysler FAQ about the warranty states that 2006 model year vehicles qualify (purchased after 7/26/2007).

See link for more details:
http://www.chrysler.com/en/lifetime_...ranty/faq.html

Q2: What does the new powertrain limited warranty include?

A2: The Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system – on most new Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge 2006 MY, 2007 MY and 2008 MY vehicles.

If you bought your XF after 7/26, I would insist that it has the lifetime powertrain warranty. Your 70k warranty may have just been additional coverage for non-powertrain repairs.

I think that I will start a new thread to get to the bottom of the warranty issue.

Thanks for the help I called Chrysler and found out that I do have the lifetime powertrain warranty. It is strange the dealer did not know this it would of been a good selling point.
