Default My baby likes it rough!

I don't question myself for naming my car Christine, cause she seems to have a mind of her own sometimes. I have the lifter tick issue, but after a couple good shakedown runs, she is quiet as a whisper for a little bit. I kinda forgot about her doing this. The same thing happened over the summer, I flogged the hell out of her a couple times and she quieted down for a couple weeks or so. Anyone have a clue as to why? I've known this car since it was new and it got flogged a good bit my family's dealership and then was bought by an old man who barely drove it and now I have it and I'm not hard on it. I probably drive it just as easy as the old guy who had it before. Could it be the way it was broken in and that's why it's not happy being driven easy?

Also, I had a rattly speaker in the door for a couple months and the rattle just seemed to disapear a couple days ago... This car is wierd lol.

In the mid 50's one of my uncles was a really good mechanic...his standard thing was you just have to drive the s+++t out of them sometimes. I think this still applies at times.

Just posted this because I saw you were from Huntingdon county and thought you might recognize where my avatar pic was taken.

Yes, there's a loud ticking noise just after startup. An earlier thread says this is common with this Mercedes motor and that it is related to the lifters eating the camshafts.

The East Broad Top Railroad at the Fall Spectacular (I can see engine #17 sitting there with the freight train)! I love that place! It's about 15 minutes away from me. My late grandparents house is right by there and if we're down there working on cars or doing yardwork you can hear the trains. I know that places inside and out and everything about it. I love our local history. Raystown Lake is awesome too! I hope you enjoy your visits here.

The lifter noise is odd because if I run the guts out of it a couple times it goes away for a while

That's a scary thought.
