Sounds like you ought to have it by Friday at the latest....assuming it was running right today.

 

tThis may sound basic but did they check to see if the noise might be an exhaust manifold leak?....

 

This was no leak it was a tick

 

tomorrow at 10 I should have my car back, now they are replacing the computor(brain i guess)

 

You may as well have them throw on a new body and just have a new car.

I hope the new chip doesn't open up a new can of worms and you get it back tomorrrow.

 

I guess you've never expereinced what a leaking header or exhaust manifold sounds like. It's a definite tick tick, or click clck sound perfectly in tune with the exhaust valve timing. Tappets make a clicking sound, and connecting rods and the sort create a knock knock.....

so did they figure out the ticking sound? I can almost guarantee the new motor will start ticking in another !0k miles, this is a normal sound on the M112 even on regular mercedes vehicles.

Did the mechanics also notice there is a check valve on the driver's side fender that makes a really loud ticking sound?

I notice one of your pictures you posted they had the engine tore apart, what was that about? I bet they didn't find squat! From what other mbz tech guys say in the mbz forums it's related to the sproket and oil jet that lubes the sprocket or chain, if it gets plugged they make a ticking sound, but thats only on high milage cars not engines with 50k miles on them. I"m curious to hear what the Chrysler mechanics said was the problem.

Also the crossfire is known to have exhaust leaks too. should check the gaskets at the manifold

 

I have had 9 benzs, this was not the normal benz sound, they found scarring in the engine,,,,,I will have all the paperwork Tuesday...... The car is now in the paint shop, doing some touch up on the hood..... I have not seen or heard the car as of yet, I know how loud a normal Benz engine is this was a loud lifter tick.....They would have not released it if it was still ticking, I will get her back tuesday, will know more then.....

 

Its a shame that the touch up on the hood could not have done while your car was sitting around for a month. You could have had it back in time for the weekend......bummer.....I hope that you do not incur any other delays that would push back your Tuesday delivery.

My .02, I wouldn't over do it when you get it back. I would give your car another mini-breakin period of a few hundred miles to give all of those new parts a chance wear in together.
