Default Engine Knocking

Hey Everyone,

Problem: Small engine knock grew in to Bad engine knock (quick) to where the car would shake everyonce and awhile while i was idle. Almost seemed as if the car wanted to die.

WHAT I DID: Thought it was the battery or alternator - had them both check and both were perfect. To it to the dealership, and they said it was the fuel injectors that were miss-firing alot - so they cleaned them and also did a full body throttle cleaning.

I still feel minor jolts from the engine when im at a red light- any similar situations or advise?

Thanks.

I would think that with the "injectors misfiring alot" would cause a code? Did you indeed get a "Check Engine" or "Malfuntion Ind Lamp"? If not, check for vacuum leaks.

Same thing with me, very loud knocking/ticking noise from engine, mainly when idling. The dealer couldnt figure out exactly what was wrong with it so I just found out that Chrysler is shipping out a new engine from detroit and theyre going to ship my old one back so they can pull it apart and see what the problem was.

you really can't request a new engine, the tore mine down thought it was lifters, then it started before getting it back to me so the tore it down again and called the engineers in, i have been without it a total of almost a month on the 5th...of Dec...

'04, orange county california, abd only 12,000 miles. I brought it in last Tuesday, they looked at it, couldn't figure out exactly what the problem was but deternined it was serious, decided it would be easier and faster to swap out the engine with a new one. New engine should be here from Detroit at the end of the week and a few days later i should get it back.

This might be dumb to ask but does anyone have a sound clip of their knocking/ticking engine, My last car started with a ticking and in the process of taking it in and getting it repaired I just bought a Crossfire instead.

Mine sounded, like it needs oil, lol ... I did not think of making a sound.wav however from in the car it was not noticeable only if you were in front of a garage door to bounce the sound ... I took it to my local Ocala dealer they said there is something wrong, but it does not sound that bad, my volvo dealer took it to Gainesville Dodge and they said this is wrong and kept the car, after two engine teardowns, they are replacing the engine...so i am happy, still worth every penny of the 13K i paid.

Mine was covered under warranty, I would hate to pay the bill on the major replacement like that if you have a tick take it in NOW!

Mine was the injectors misfiring - " a new joke amoung friends who are jealous of my car " how my misfire still smokes them off the line haha but it cost me under $100 to have them taken care of.

Thank You!

Mine got noisy till i got pissed off at it and gave it a good thrashing and it went away. It came back again after about 2 weeks, so I blew the cobwebs out again and started driving it a little more aggressively and it hasn't come back. Also, I've learned to live with the little stumble at idle. If I could have my way with it it would have a lopey idle from big cams in it anyways

Hi, Italian!!

Usually if any car is idling rough it's gonna be spark or fuel. You could try dumping in a bottle of injector cleaner and/or some Heet which will remove any residual water you may have picked up from your last fill-up. Perhaps the fuel filter. Did the dealer do a diagnostic on it?

yes i usually add it to the tank after every oil change - and i also have a rumble when sitting at idle - diagnostic the second time around said everything was okay.

quick question about the oil change - how long does everyone wait to get it done - i have heard the synthetic is good for 7000k and ive known others to change it at 5000 - but i have always played it safe with 3k?
