New Member - 07 Base Coupe
22yo guy in South East PA... and I have a history of Automotive A.D.D.
1987 Chrysler Fifth Avenue - (wrecked)
1984 Chrysler Fifth Avenue - Converted to TBI w/ many police parts
2004 Dodge Neon R/T - Lowered, Wheels, Exhaust, Stereo (sold 'cuz it was too slow and too expensive at the time)
1992 Dodge Spirit R/T - 400whp turbo dodge adventure (set aside as a toy)
2007 Chrysler Crossfire Coupe 6 speed - A daily driver that I'm almost certain to dump money into, given my record.
My dealertech brother found the car at his dealership for $19,000. 5 year 100,000 miles bumper to bumper, lifetime powertrain warranty, tax and tags later, I walked out the door having paid $23,000 for my brand new baby.
I've had it a little over a week and I've already washed it 3 times, ordered a shift ****, sprint booster, made time to pull the muffler off, bought an Alpine PDX4, boston acoustic rear speakers, and a JL W3 sub.
My brother is bringing the DRBIII or Starscan home tonight to investigate the TC/ESP "problem" (it being a nanny about the whole "driving sideways" thing).

EDIT: Thinking about the personal plate "BENZLER"... Do you think would that be too played out?

I sort of like the "BENZLER" idea too. go for it
Not trying to be nosey or offend you, but why go with a 2007 BASE model? Granted it is 2007.. you could've gotten a limited with a little bit of miles or even an srt-6..
Just curious, that's all.

1-Price of $18800 ( I was working within a budget )
2-Lifetime Powertrain Warranty ( or as long as Chrysler lives )
3-Used low mile limiteds were not cheaper than my new base coupe at the dealerships
4-$3500 premium for a limited wasn't worth it to me:
- problematic seats ( bad heaters and weak leather)
- I'm 6'2" and may replace the seats anyway to get more headroom
- an upgraded stereo that I would replace anyway
- different colors ( almost swayed me as I prefer the Inferno Red )
- racing pedals that I can add
- Crossfire door sills that I can add.
- Fog lights would have been nice
- There are no performance upgrades to the limited over the base.
I would have loved a low mile SRT but since I was trying to keep my ownership expenses as low as possible, I made the decision to buy a new base coupe. I'm sure that repairs on an out of warranty SRT will be massive. I plan on being a crossfire owner for a long time.

What are you doing with the muffler? I hope you're not putting a coffee can on it! Just kidding. Just keep in mind, this car isn't a tuner-mobile in the JDM sense.
Bought a base because it was cheap and the only coupe sitting on the lot at my brother's dealership. If I want any limited model options I'll just throw them in myself (like fogs and leather). The SRT6 doesn't have the warranty I need for a daily driver, and it isn't near fast or brutal enough to satisfy me as a toy.
As far as the muffler... I don't know exactly. First step is just to yank it off. If that's too loud I'll go duals with inline resonators. It's more for sound than performance (I'm used to a louder car), although opening up the high RPM is in order. Sounds like the car is exhaling through a straw over 5k. I'm well aware of this car's limited potential, but for a daily driver it's fine.
I also found the ESP/ABS fuse last night. Wow. I wonder how long it will be before I scare myself into puting it back.

Great choice you made. "The coolest car around" phrase just barely describes the fun and excitement you are about to enjoy!

Sorry for the criticism, but without a muffler the car will sound like, well, a car without a muffler. The only car that should sound like that is a V8 on the drag strip. Well, if you like the buzz saw sound, enjoy it. Just not my taste. I like a refined sound to come out of my (once luxury and prestigious) sports car. Now, my 65 Chevelle, that's another story...
I'm not much a fan of the harsher tones but I love the exotic 6cyl sound of this motor. I fully expect to need true duals and some resonators to mellow it out.
But I'll give 4 converters and no muffler a chance before I spend more.

Hah! I didn't know about those until I adopted the screename. It's also the brand name of infrared strobes for emergency vehicles as well.
Optic(Visual) Con(Fraud).
It was born out of my last project car...

An ugly and cancerous Dodge Spirit that underwent MAJOR engine and suspension modification. I still own it, I just got tired of swapping head gaskets every other weekend and bought a crossfire to drive daily.
Edit: The same ex-Shelby Dodge employee that helped me built that car now works on Mercedes navigation systems in NY. So I have connections at an MB facility now.
