Default Need Help posting Pictures to your posts or gallery?

I have been helping a few people lately with posting pics to their gallery AND to the forum. I did a quick search and didn't find any type of a written 'tutorial' - is there a tutorial posted on this board that tells how to post pics yet?

If not, this is a quick one that should point you in the right direction.

Mods, feel free to sticky this or move it to another forum and just use links to it if/when needed. Also, any changes/suggestions are welcomed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you go up to the top of the screen and click on the gallery button, it will open up the image gallery (you must be logged in to the forum to do this):

------------------------------------------------------------------------

After clicking on Gallery, click on the 'Upload Photos' button:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you have done this, Click on the 'browse' buttons and find the pictures on your PC or Camera and select them. Then, when you have all of your pictures selected, click on the Upload/Submit button at the bottom of the screen.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

After clicking Upload/Submit, the files will be uploaded. This may take a few minutes depending on the file size. You will then be taken to a page called the PROCESS page where you can change the image's description, etc. Once you are done with this, click 'PROCESS' button at the bottom. This will finish the upload process, and take you to your gallery.

After the pictures are uploaded, it should take you to a page that shows you the pictures. On this, click on the picture you want to post. This should enlarge the picture, provided details to it, and provide some links/code underneath the image as seen below.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Look for a box that says BBCode. There is a link in this box that you can copy and paste into your forum posts that will make the full size image show up in your post. To copy it, click on the button that says 'Copy to Clipboard'. Then, go to your post, and press CTRL+V for windows users (or go to the top of your screen, edit, and paste if you use windows).

To post a thumbnail (small version of your image) that is linked to a full size version of your image, use the OTHER code that says 'Linked Thumbnail'.

This 'link' in this box is what you must use in your posts to show a picture. For example, my image link looks like this:
{img}https://www.crossfireforum.org/gallery/data/500/medium/IMG_0092.jpg{/img}

My thumbnail link would look like this:

{url=https://www.crossfireforum.org/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/12437]{img}https://www.crossfireforum.org/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_0094.jpg{/img}{/url}

(the {} replaces the [] to prevent the image from showing up, just for showing an example).

This should work for you - let me know.

Shawn

Thanks for the tutorial. I thought I knew all this stuff but I was never aware of how to use the BB code links. I always wondered how people posted with big pics in the body of their post. Thanks for sharing and I think this should be made a sticky. Maybe RPM or Mightyjlr can do this. Gary
