Default The Earthquakes are rattling my Crossfires

Just had the second earthquake at 11:20 AM East. Was awaken rather suddenly this AM with the first earthquake. The cars are handling it well, but my office diplomas crashed and threw glass everywhere. I must say, these earthquakes are a thrilling ride, like the Tail.

Who else is feeling these earthquakes. May need to work on emergency preparedness instead of washing my cars this weekend.

Shaking in Vincennes, Indiana,

Jane

I just saw this on the news this morning.
They mentioned southern Illinois but then I looked and saw you are right on the Ill/In border.

Crappy little 5.3. I was in Hawaii two years back when the biggest one they had in 30 years hit and we were on the 14th floor of the hotel. Luckily freight elevator was working because nothing else was and I was leaving that day and thought I would have to walk our 3 pieces of luggage down all those flights. Luckily we were the last plane out of there that day out of the three that took off . Else we would have had to sleep in the airport with no power and no running water because there's not enough emergency generators to keep the airport running.

An earthquake of that magnitude wouldn't even wake me up - I might roll over...

Now if a tornado or a hurricane ripped thru the west coast - people might freak.

At least if a major earthquake destroys your home - you'll find that all of your "Stuff" will be in one nice and neat pile on your property - - not scattered over five counties...

LOL....

Reporting from TX, I would rather have the tornado so I would know when to kiss my *** good-bye . A major natural disaster here is ice on the road, seriously.

Hi Jane, Glad your OK!

Heads Up to you All!

1) Consider Earthquake Insurance it's Not included in the Std HO Policy! (Just got mine last week $75 extra, NO I'm Not psychic )

2) Earthquakes shake more in the Midwest & down as the Plates are much bigger & Deeper than in Calif. (So the Richter Scale number means Not the Same thing here as it does in Cal)

My Best,
Bill

Did anybody ever see Tom Cruise's Movie "War of the Worlds"?
I guess we'll all be OK as long as there is no "Freak" Lighting just before the earth quakes.

Here in Vincennes, we can't get flood insurance since we are on the Wabash River, but we do have earthquake insurance. Minor damage, but all is OK here. Everybody is just a bit on edge now that we've had the second quake. Thanks everyone for writing; it is nice to hear from you all.

Can't stop thinking about the Tail. Just signed up for a racing event at Putnam Park with NASA for May 17,18th. This will be my first event with NASA, so I'll find out how they are in regards to putting on the event.

On stable ground now,

Jane

Hi Jane, I live outside of Odon (not that far from you) and had just got to work about 7 mile's east of Odon. I was pouring water in the coffee maker and started hearing a rumble, I thought it was our big air compressor kicking on in the equipment room that is close by. Then everything started shaking, it lasted about 20 seconds here.

It's not rare to have an earthquake in the Missouri, Illinois, indiana, area as far as geologic time goes. Back in 1812, The New Madrid fault line shifted and set off a 8.0 or better earthquqke. It even changed the course of the Mississippi to flow north for a while.

Check it out.

My wife said some of her students felt it here in NW Ohio this morning about 6:30 am.
