Crossfire Ltd Coupe and 350Z Roadster
Hi Folks,
A friend just bought a 350Z Roadster ( auto) and let me drive it yesterday.
This is a pretty car and looks fabulous - it's bronze.
My overall impression of it performance wise is - Z doesn't stand for ZIP. Even though it has 300+HP it felt like I was driving a 4-cyl... absolutely gutless- granted, I never fiddled with the autostick/tiptronic shift (or whatever Nissan calls it) but I sincerely hope that the manual version has more giddy up. I was not impressed with the steering/handling either, the car felt dead to the road- like the cardboard box I pretended was a car as a kid:-)
I'll keep my beautiful, fast and road hugging Crossfire coupe... thanks anyway, Nissan. :-)

The Z's have power for sure, they're quick but not blistering quick. The Roadster is just an ugly car though sorry. Looks like a turtle. The coupe isn't that far behind in the ugly department. Definitely not a timeless design.
As I said, I much prefer the Xfire ( I know, preaching to the choir:-) besides, I was trying to find something nice to say about the Z
Automatic Z's have 280 hp, and weigh in at 500lbs more than the Limited.
I can hang side by side with the automatics from a dead stop, and from an even roll at 30mph, I just downshift to 3rd, stand on the throttle and slowly creep away from the 350Z.
If you can pump the m112 motor up to 280-300hp you'll smoke Z's all day long.

Really? I thought our cars would get blown away by the Z's.. I guess vs a stick one we will though.. providing the driver can somewhat drive.
I rather like the Z design, had my dad not work at Chrysler i was going to get an orange 350z couple 8-)

it's funny, even the Maxima with the 3.5L runs identical to the Z autos. from a stoplight, the maxima is stuck side by side with my bone stock limited. it's gets annoying that I can't shake em loose, f***ing fwd POS.
would of been a nice performance sedan if only it was rwd.

You weigh less so you can brake later, with rear wheel drive, your exit speeds can be much higher.

The 350Z was one of the cars on the list when I was shopping for a roadster. I thought its performance was much better than that of the crossfire. it felt much quicker than the Crossfire with regards to get-up and go. Looks are subjective, but then again we all knwo what lots of people think about the Crossfire's weird looks ("like a dog taking a dump") as someone had put it. All in all, it came down to the price point and the Crossfire was the best bang for the buck.. But boy do I miss that exhaust note form the 350Z... I find it odd that a Crossfire would be able to hang with a Z... or that a Z can't leave a Crossfire behind..
