Engine clicking--??
About 4 months ago, sorry if this is a repeat, but I cant recall, my motor starting "clicking" at start up and for about 10 minutes, always between 1500 and 2000 RPM. Rev it up or down and it goes away. From my old Chevy days, it sounded to me like bad main bearings. Dealer replaced some valve train parts, cant recall which, car is in the shop so I cant look. Anyway, the next day the clicking is still there. So today he says he thinks it's the oil pump and ordered one. Anyone have this kind of problem? If so how was it fixed. It sounds like marbles in a can.
I dont think you understand. The engine is quiet up to 1500 RPM but then a loud, noticeable clicking to about 2000 and it goes away. Revs drop, it goes away, rev up, it goes away, but marbles in a can.
It would help the guessing/diagnosis to know what parts have already been replaced. Broken valve train parts would be the best you can hope for. If the engine has been making bearing noises, permanent damage is already done, regardless if it turns out to be an oil pressure problem that they corrected. Any bearing damage will lower the life expectancy of the engine considerably and you should force them to replace your engine. Can the noise be better described as a "rapping" noise?
They ordered the oil pump, and if thats not the problem, then they dont have a clue as to what the problem is. I'll see if they will replace the motor. The shound is just like taking a metal can, filling it with about 5 marbles, then spinning the can. It it more noticeable between 1500 and 2000, then goes away. They replaced the lifters about a month ago, didnt help
I believe CoupeGirl had the same issue, they ended up replacing her engine ! May wanna give her a PM to find out the specifics.

Mine is loud as he11, I'll let you know if something ever fails. I'm just going to drive it until it dies, that way the fine xfire techs won't have to stare at it and scratch their heads. Glad I got the 8/80 power train warranty!!
