Quietest Tires?
I don't know if they are the "quietest", but the Goodyear F1 A/S would be pretty close to it if they aren't.
BTW, are you aware of the next DFWXfires meet? Click here for info.

That's a good question, wish I knew the answer.
I do know the Coopers that I replaced my orininal Conti's with do run quieter, but there may very well be another brand that's even more quiet.
I'm not aware of any "excessive" noise coming from the Coopers though.

Quietness, or the lack thereof, is not just a function of brand but compound, tread pattern, etc. Michelin, BFGoodrich, Goodyear, Falken, etc all make high mileage "luxury" tires and also high performance tires. The high mileage tire will tend to be much quieter than the peformance tire but it also won't handle as well. Tire choice is always a trade off - how much ride comfort and road noise are you willing to give up for responsive handling, or how much handling responsiveness will you forego just to get a quiet ride?
Your best bet is to check the ratings for these different variables at places like tirerack.com, but you have to take the consumer reviews with a grain of salt. One man's quiet is another man's roar.

Around town they're not too bad, but on the highway at 3k rpm it's like riding in a Grand National Stock Car. On the up side, i never hear my tires.
