Default New unprogrammed key

I got a new key from the dealer and tried the programming procedure but it's not working.

Can anyone tell me if an unprogrammed key should at least rotate in the external door lock?

My new key doesn't.

Yes, it's been cut.

It is a visual match to my old key but I'm not sure how precise it must me.

It doesn't turn in the door or the ignition.

If it doesn't work in the door lock than it's not cut right.

sounds like a cut issue
u can program the key

Transmitter programming by the customer is done by performing the following steps:
  1. Insert the key into the ignition switch.
  2. Press either the lock or unlock button momentarily twice.
Turn the key in the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position within 30 seconds

Thanks for the replies.

I knew I could program it myself but thought maybe it wouldn't even rotate until it was programmed.

Next we'll see how much the dealership will argue that they need to program it before it will work.

My 5-star dealer had never programmed a crossfire key before. I stood there for 30 minutes while they asked around, looked at my owners manual, etc ("we need the code for your car"). I flipped around the computer they had at the service desk, pulled up this forum, and in 5 minutes solved the problem using the method described by huudoo above. But again, my key was turning the lock before we started any of this. Thankfully, the dealer bookmarked crossfireforum.org for nex time.

They ordered another key after some argument that it should just work after it's programmed.

The new one first worked in the door and I was able to program it easily.

I also noticed that the blinkers flashed once after turning the ignition to the on position acknowledging that the programming worked.

Thanks for the information!
