Unresponsive gas pedal?
I purchased an 05 XF Roadster LTD with 18K.
It feels like there's too much delay between when I press the gas pedal and when the engine accelerates. The gas pedel feels "soft".
I'm thinking with the low miles, there might be varnish on the top engine parts that needs to be cleaned out.
I suppose a high flow air filter wouldn't hurt either.
Any thoughts on products that would help?

Throttle reset might help a bit (temporary)
Also the Sprint Booster helps the throttle "feel" more responsive.

High-flow air filters will not help, nor will varnish removal.
70GT is right about the sprint booster.
Try doing a throttle control reset, several threads here explaining the process. Or if you're still dissatisfied with the throttle response and assuming nothing is actually wrong with the car, you may wanna consider investing in a Sprint Booster !

The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving
style. Do a Throttle body reset.
1. Get in your car
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter
turns over.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back
to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas
pedal.
5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment.
6. Drive the car as you always do.
It is not hard to do this, just follow the instructions -
Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2 minutes.
Keep the key in for the entire thing.
If this doesn't work, disconnect your neg. battery cable for 20 minutes. This will re-set the parameters in the drive-by-wire... Unfortunately it will delete your pre-set radio stations, clock etc. as well...

The lag time between you input to the throttle and the engine response is unfortuantely NORMAL.
Some of the above will help. The lag on decceleration is more than annoying, especially on a manual transmission. If you have a manual, don't try clutchless shifting. car gets really upset with you because you just can't synchro the shaft speeds with the throttle. i miss that.

you 'ole shifter, Franc...what do you know about delay???? People are always knocking the Sprint Booster, but it solved that problem for me...as did the reset...after installing the sprint booster...so who knows other than the car's computer

I've been considering the Sprint Booster but now that I'm synch'ed to the lag in the throttle, I would have to reset "MY" reaction times.
Hard for a stubborn old indian ya' know.

I'm learning more about this car all the time.
It's at a Chrysler dealership now. There going to check the throttle operation as well as fixing the tire pressure light and an oil change.
I'm heading to Texas for a few days and I'll see hew it works when I get back.
This is the first I've heard of a "Sprint Booster". I like the sound of it but have no idea what it is.

OK, I just read some "Sprnt Booster" posts and it sounds like the ticket.
All I need to know now is where is the best to get one and how to install it.
Can the Chrysler dealer take care of this while the car is in there?

How often should this be done, just when you feel the accelerator lagging or is there a time frame when it reprograms itself again?
I've had the Sprint booster installed for over a year now and I do a throttle reset about once a month but I've been experiencing more than usual throttle lag lately and was wondering if there could be something else wrong?
