Default Sound Deading Material Question

Has anyone used any of the Sound Deading Material that is available out there ?

I just installed a flowmaster and I get the common vibration re-verb on acceleration. I read that some crossfire owners have used these mats to help this problem. Any recommendations ?

Dynamat is the trusted standard sound deadener.

Where and how would you apply the sound-proofing? My 2008 Coupe Limited is quiet except for tire noise on the studded tire damaged Freeways. Of course mine is all stock under the hood except for K & N air filters.

I used sound-proofing generously on a 22.5 foot boat with only a Mercruiser 4.3 Chevy V 6 in it and got little return for my investment and labor. Much of it even had a clay barrier.

Are you sure that people actually solved this problem using sound absorbing mats? It sounds more like a problem with the exhaust install?

The vibration is does not seem to be from mechanical transference but from sound. It is on the acceleration band. If I can not lessen it, I may just put back on the crappy heavy stock exhaust.

The next time buy a Magnaflow exhaust. Has a nice warm deep sound, not tinny like a flowmaster. Go to u-tube and listen to the difference in sound between the two. Other then that Dynamat is king in terms of interior sound control.

Your best bet is to use Dynamat Extreme in the hatch area right over the muffler. That means taking apart the interior of the hatch to get to the metal surrounding the muffler tunnel. Dynamat over that and anywhere else you can. You should also pick up some filler from a fabrics store (pillow stuffing) and place that behind the panels as well. I did this in my car and it made a HUGE difference in exhaust noise and road noise. It takes a LONG time to do it right, but it is well worth the effort.
