Wow! I am very cautious as to what I’ll hire a friend to do and what I won’t. Most of the time I want to be able to voice my dislikes without loosing a friend.

Man oh man. I would have replied to this thread earlier, but it took me 20 minutes to pick my jaw up off the ground. That's crazy. I'm not a huge fan of Z's, but I sure as heck hope he gets that thing lookin good again. I feel bad, and I will defiantely be sure to keep and ear to the ground before I take my baby anywhere to have work done. Man oh man.

lol. Any idiot should know that you're not going to get a body kit prepped, painted, and installed, for $250... friend or not.

However, I do believe if I were that guy I would sue for negligence and breach of contract because the shop clearly went beyond just doing a bad $250 job and really screwed up his car.

I still can't feel too sorry for him though.... if you are driving around a car that costs as much money as a 350z, pay the money to buy a GOOD kit that actually fits right, and to have a GOOD shop paint and install. I'm surprised this guy didn't just install the kit himself and drive around with it unpainted for a few months before paying a "shop" to paint it for him.

Thanks for the link.

I may have just discovered where my shims and screws ended up after being stolen out of the back of my truck while it was parked at the lumberyard.

Well it certainly does add that authentic ricer look to it

Seriously that's one of, if not the worst hack job I've ever seen in my life. My father was a paint and auto body guy for 40 years, they had a constant stream of people that went "cheap" at their friends shop or some other fly-by-night special of the week place, bringing their mess to the pros to fix it and redo it properly.

We put a body kit on an 80's Mustang I had, and it's a lot of work getting the parts to fit nicely (although no body panels should need to be moved as the Z's were), paint/prep, etc. No way $250 or whatever that guy was quoted would cover that job.

Good lord that Z was just butchered, wood screws right into the body. At a minimum I would take that guy to small claims court, but I suspect there's more then $5K worth of damage.

I wonder if he has any wood screws left ??
Hell I have fixed up a 20 year old riding lawn mower better than that in my garage 15 years ago.
He should be hung by his ***** for this one.

I don't think they can charge you if they can't find the body.

Any one of those issues would have been too much for me to tolerate. But the sheer magnitude of errors and incompetence is staggering. If that was my car I would have vomitted right on the spot. Unreal. The person that did that is a fraud. And probably worse, judging how far they went - they don't even know it!
