That looks really great. Neat effect. As Max said, hope the LED's can take the heat where you have them. They are just plactic encapsulated diodes and may not be rated for that high of temps. They are cheap though. Good luck.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this over the weekend. Be sure to bring a parts list and how-to because a few of us are going to be interested. Something new that looks great!

Default Led flamed engine cover / more thoughts on LEDs

looks cool! (well HOT, then!)

interesting, because, I saw an 'un-named OTHER sportscar' at the Toronto Auto Show, with white LEDs under its engine cover...

Also, have seen LEDs in wheel wells...on brake calipers...every damn place, it seems...not so sure about that...a little much for my liking...the car is SO elegant and tasteful as it is...

I'm a little leery of adding LED's EVERYWHERE...just for the effect...but, I must say that the flamed cover with the red LEDs IS something!!

I wonder about the more subtle approach of 'white' LEDs in the engine compartment...ie: down around the shock towers...under the engine cover...as a 'spotlight' on the hood pointing down toward the engine...

hmmm...

'stuff to do'...!!!

By the way, do ANY X-Fires have OEM underhood lights (you know, the usual type...when you open the hood, they go on)?

That's hot.

Can you make the exhaust tail pipe glow red as you step on the gas? like the batman's car?

Afterburners would be awesome! Some way to do it at 3500-6000rpm so that it doesn't come on every time you hit the gas on the freeway/etc. They get pretty hot though, are there any high-temp-okay LEDs that exist?
