Hood Won't Stay Up Anymore! Help!!
Something is wrong with the support bar that raises and lowers the hood. I can open the hood, but it does not stay up by itself. I see no holes or anything in the gas support bar. Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong. Or what I need to do to fix this besides taking it to the Stealership? I tried a search but could not find any info relevant to a malfunctioning hood support bar. Any knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The struts (gas support) do eventually go bad. You just have to replace the strut... not sure of the part number, but they should not be too hard to find in an online parts store.

My understanding is that you will need a new gas strut.
The size of hole necessary to cause the gas struts to fail is very, very small. |

Thanks everyone for the info!! I guess it is gonna be pretty pricy. :( Does anyone know if something like this would be covered under my warranty? I have the MAX CARE extended warranty. For now I guess I will start saving up some money. Thanks to all.

Did you try opening it up to the 90* method? That should hold it down physically with the button.

:D Yeah I tried it. And it works. But it doesnt feel right, trusting my life to the littel plastic button that is supporting all the weight. It is a good temporary fix if I need to do something real quick through. Cheers. |
