Default I think I did all right.

I just picked up a 2007 Base coupe, 17,500 miles, for 15K FLAT. I think I did well,...or did I just do O.K.?

I wouldn't say real bad, i'd say okay, depends on if we're talking black limited or black base, condition of the body, etc...

Personally I got my 04' alabaster (limited obviously)6speed with 5k miles (but a little bit of paint damage on the rear and front bumpers) for 14,500 plus ttl

You could probably got it cheaper, but since it is a 2007... I say you did ok. If you were going to save money it might not have been too much more. I got my 2006 base with 21,xxx miles for 15k but it was a lot longer ago... so do not be so down. I would pay the same price again.

Not bad. I think we all realize we could have done a little better, but you have to be willing to walk away.

I picked up a 2007 Limited coupe MT6 with 12.5k miles for $16700 in September. Dealer came down from $18k and I suspect if I had walked and come back in a couple weeks, I could have done a little better. 6-speeds are not popular in Chicago area and winter was coming. But it was a color I wanted, two years warranty remaining, and I had driven 150 miles to see it. Given what's happened to the economy since then, I probably could have picked it up for near your price if I could have waited a couple months and it did not sell.

BTW, I had been looking for several months and found a 2005 with 40k for $14.8k and a 2004 with 5k for $15k. Both graphite with manuals. Given the mileage and warranty, I felt I got a reasonable deal.

You didn't do bad for a 2007. You just don't have to worry about them calling the police on you....

A little high for a base I talked to a guy last week said he paid $9500+ it had only 600 miles on it! Also I had a 05 LTD auto red roadster with 30k miles for only $12500 in Vegas.

I just got an 07 base convertible, 6 speed with 19,xxx miles on it. Black, was a chrysler employee lease return. I paid 9,800 dollars. I will admit that my job is buying cars for 15 new car dealers in 5 different states. I got it at the Chrysler facotry sale. It was hard to convince my dealer to let me have it, but I just couldnt pass it up!

If you love your car then you did alright! The timing was not the best but one cannot predict that. If you enjoy your car then never look back! Drive it until the wheels fall off of it!

Well, considering a "real" MB SLK230 is priced at that price, Crossfire's are holding up pretty well in price, don't you think?

Referring to the MB SLK230: I see no similarities between that and the XF.
Referring to MB's in general: I lived in Los Angeles for 18-years where MB ownership is a dime a dozen. I came away with the conclusion that MB owners were, for the most part, a disgusting lot, given to displays of ostentation. It seemed that the message that they were giving was: "See what I'm driving, it cost me over $50K, but I've got plenty more where that came from". (Rather than owning the vehicle for it's exemplary design and quality manufacturing).
My own opinion of MB's is that for the most part, they are bland, verging on ugly vehicles and yes, there are exceptions. That MB has a good rep for build quality, etc., enables me to brag to associates and onlookers alike that my XF's are built largely by MB. That's as far as my adulation of MB goes, sorry.
If you drive or own an MB, good for you. They're great cars.

I wouldn't want an slk aside from the new one, and I still wouldn't pay that much for one. I never liked the last generation. You got a good deal... not a great one, but you also didn't get ripped off (..not "real bad" ). You basically paid half price for a year old car with less than 20k miles.

Hmmmm.... you probably don't want to hear this, but here goes:

I got my 2005 Limited Roadster, 6MT, NAV, two tone leather back in July '07 for $21,000. It had 32 miles on the odometer and full factory warranty.

I'd say I did better than you, but I'm sure there are those who did better than I.

I love my car so should someone come along and prove my last comment correct I won't be upset. Neither should you if you truly enjoy your Crossfire.

And I got my '04 Limited w/2-tone reddish-orange (or whatever it is) and black leather, black exterior, WITHOUT NAV, (I told them they could keep the nav and I'd keep the cup holder, with 5,500 miles, for 15K, +tax and etc., so I think that's a better deal than some of those I've read about here..
REGARDLESS,
I'd love both of my vehicles just as much even if I'd paid 10K for them, (or 30K), it doesn't really matter.
For the years involved and the mileage on the clock, I'd say both vehicles were easily worth 15K apiece.
There are some super deals out there of course, and I hope a couple of knock-out examples come my way some time, but, even with car prices down right now, who the hell wants to buy a Kia or Hyundai or Toyota crackerbox which, ordinarily, are about the only cars out there you can get between 10 and 15k. If there are more, so what? None of them look like or drive like the XF, and that, in a nutshell, is what every one of us is on this forum for. The XF is beautiful and there are damned few vehicles out there, at any price, that can hold a candle to it.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. Jimmyjet

11,600 miles, 6 speed, had manufacturer's plates from Detroit...paid a grand total of $16,500.

Was mine a good buy?
