Default Peoples opinions wanted

I had a mate do a quick photoshop for me .

Changed the wheels, wing vents, door handles and windscreen surround to a dark grey although black might look better.

Before

After

Should i get them painted or left silver

I like both man!! Black out the taillights if you go for the chopped version. You can't loose with either though IMO.

I'm sorry, but it looks just like a base coupe.

Not feeling it.

Base has black windshield surround, side vents and no foglights.

Anything I missed?

Base has cloth seats and black door sills with no "Crossfire" on them. I think they had rubber floor mats too.

I'm not a fan of the "after" pics of the car. It just doesn't go well with the base color of the car. Again, this is my opinion, but I think that coloring the factory crossfire wheels black looks cheap. The selected black and red looks like the car was hobbled together. I have seen cars where the owner has painted say the roof (and often the pillars) black and the rest of the car is red. I've seen TTs where the roof is black and the rest of the car is silver. Those all look ok if you have the coin and a cool color combo.

My suggestion is to do it like most manufacturers paint their performance cars. Everything except the wheels should be body colored. The battle I am having in my head is what to do with the fins on the side. Coloring them in looks good on the cars I;ve seen, but I wonder if it would be more dramatic and visually appealing to have everything body colored and leave the fins silver. If you look at cars that have similar side fins, most are either chrome or silver from the factory. My car is black and this is what I'm considering.

As for wheels, that's VERY tough on the crossfire. I have seen very few aftermarket wheels that truely compliment the appearance of the car. The OEM wheels may be a bit on the bland side, but they look very good. Most cars I like and am interested in look very good with intricate wheels, such as the typical BBS-style wheels (RM, CH, etc model wheels as examples). I don;t think these would look very good on the car. The crossfire would look even better with a more aggressive version of the stock wheel design and with an aggressive fitment. So I think you have two options on the wheels. Leave the stock wheels as is and don't paint them or you can find another set of wheels that further compliments the lines of the crossfire. The problem I see with your car is the color. It's a unique red color that I don;t think goes all that well with black like say a brighter red would. If I had your colored car, I would get everything body colored and find a nice looking set of aftermarket silver wheels--definitely not chrome or any other color.

It's interesting though, what I think is appropriate for a crossfire and most other cars I think is vastly different than most other folks around here. I guess I have more of a euro-centric, OEM-plus way of looking at cleanly designed cars like the crossfire. The designers did a FANTASTIC job with the car overall but had to make a few concessions for production. Tweaking some of those concessions could really make the car pop without a ton of extra work or parts added to the car.

I agree with the majority, the black wheels are way too much. I personally like the silver wheels on any of the colors, the base wheels are just fine to me, and I like the more complex after rims too. One of the things I was thinking about was painting that line inside each spoke black to make it look like a cut-out. I'm going to apply some electrical tape to it when it gets warm enough just to see if I like the look at all.

How about these from tburris? They are similar to stock, machined/black and look OK to me.

Those look pretty good! Probably among the best I've seen on a crossfire.
