Default XFire: Is the Tide Turning UP?

Archer Chrysler on Hwy 290 in Houston has 53 XFires in stock. Nothing new they had 63 one year ago. I made a post about it back then. I went there yesterday and they have placed window stickers for list price + $800 for care package, +$3000 up charge. I did not talk to a salesman but it looks like they are holding on to the last big batch of xFires for above sticker price!
I have been searching Chrysler.com for new 08 xFires, looks like there are not many new ones left? (I am not talking about the used market, cars.com or other). Maybe prices are going back up?
WHAT do your Chrysler dealers have??

I have not seen one new xfire on any Chrysler lot around where I live, but I haven't been around many. About the dealer asking list +, ha, that a good one. He must want to keep them all for a very long time. Or until Chrysler goes under. List price, now thats funny, very very funny.

Just a quick look at EBAY will tell you prices are stable but hardly climbing.
SRT's are holding between $18k and $21K on the used market.
NA's are anywhere from $11K to $18K depending mostly on age and miles

Interestingly the SE addition seems to be holding value better than the limited. Must be the wheels.

My hope is to get most comments for the thread on new cars at Chryslers dealers. Is the supply dwindling quicker? Of course one would think so since they do not make them any more. Just trying to see what new 08s are available at dealers in your area. Yes use market comments are welcome too.
Thanks,
CAPT George

I suspect they are one of the last dealers left with new xfires. I don't know of any dealers in D/FW that have any new ones left. Last year, Grapevine Chrysler here in D/FW had a bunch that they were discounting heavily. I saw a bunch of people here buying them.

I guess they are hedging their bet that since there are few new ones left, they can charge $$$ for them and they'll sell.

That dealer must have their own money. Most banks would not let them keep such vehicles on the "Floor Plan."

At least not in an unmarketable price situation.

I haven't seen any new XFs here on lots in Virginia.....and VERY FEW used ones in the Richmond area....If you do spot one, they seem to appear on the streets like ghosts......Now you see them, now you don't!

I buy cars for about 5 Chrysler dealers at what are called Factory sales. Meaning you have to be a Chrysler dealer to attend. Lately we are seeing a bunch of units from dealers that have gone under and their left over cars are showing up at auctions. Two weeks ago there was an 07 gold coupe limited with 15 miles on it. I was surprised to see it go for 17,200. Im pretty sure it went to Bob Moore Chrysler in Edmond(OKC) Oklahoma. In two weeks there is a black 08 limited coupe with like 5 miles on it that is supposed to be in Kansas City, be interesting to see what it does. Prices where I go, for the most part, have been steadily increasing at auctions. There was a period where they were dirt cheap, now they are coming back up. Glad I got mine back in November when they were cheap!!!

$3K over sticker...that would be >$41K for an auto with nav......that's more than I paid for Fred & Wilma (brand new) put together!!! Obviously a lot of that stuff is still getting across the border.

I LIVE at the border, and there are a mere handful of XFs here. Even the local Chryser dealership never really carried them and you see a random one at other dealerships as trade-ins. There are sometimes what look like convoys of car carriers heading south on US77 heading for the border.

That being said, it seems odd that the Houston dealership has such a large number of XFs, though it would not be a big stretch to think that they hope that the rumored demise of other car makers' preformance two-seaters (I read somewhere that the S2000 and the Solstice are on the way out) would mean that those potential buyers would give the XF a second look. Otherwise, I can't see how a dealership can afford the overhead in keeping all those cars clean and safe in the dealership.

I don't think he's talking about Crossfire's coming across the border LOL. More like something I'd fire up in a pipe.

I haven't seen any new or even gently used XFs in Michigan for a while. Occasionally I'd read/see a used one with medium miles, probably coming off of lease or being traded. Like anything else, the dealer can sticker them at any price he wants but the market will control the sales price. Selling 10 in a year says he's not finding many suckers.

Go in and dicker on one for us, to determine what the real price is.

There are three "new" 2007 Limited coupes at one dealer in Kansas City. (I think there are at least 3 Chrysler dealers in the metro area). They are on
"special" this week - $21,870 or $23,400 for the one with nav & 2-tone seats. They must be selling well as I remember this dealer had at least 15 sitting on the lot a month ago and now are down to the final three. ( Or maybe took the others to auction?)

I saw Bonham in Texas had a 2005 SRT convert with around 5000 miles and they wanted about $27000 if I remember correctly.
