2 mph...seriously
So last Monday I was on my way home from work. Stopped to pick up some groceries and I was pulling out into STOPPED traffic to turn left...I got hit. Wanted to wait until I got all the estimates back to post up here, but the estimates were finalized today.
I was hit in the front left, in front of the wheel, and looked at first glance to be mostly cosmetic damage. The body shop tore it down and wouldn't you know, bent frame on the RIGHT SIDE...
anyways, verdict is...totaled. 16,111 in damages for me barely moving. needless to say, i've already got my eye on a new one...an SRT. it is still saddening that I lost her, she was my baby.
The accident occured one year and a day after I purchased her (367days b/c of leap year).
I have a bunch of pics on my BB Storm, and I will post them up as soon as I can.
I am fine and so is the other driver. I estimate the other car was doing somewhere between 10-20mph as she was moving from a straight lane (where traffic was stopped) into the left hand turn lane (empty).
I almost cried when they brought the flatbed in to tow it away.
(SIDE NOTE: The tow truck driver had to get out his manual to see how to hook it up to get it on the flatbed. This did not increase my confidence in his abilities to perform a careful tow)
On about as positive a note as can be in a thread like this, I was also informed today of what GEICO valued the car at (and therefore I will be getting)... $16,950. I only paid $19,000 out the door for it brand new (32miles on ODO). So this is a good sign that maybe the value for the cars are returning slowly...maybe.
I will update the thread with pics as soon as I get around to it and will definately let everyone know when I get her replacement (which WILL be another crossfire).
Overall, it is a huge hassle, but maybe its a blessing in disguise and I thank God I wasn't going faster because then she would have hit the driver side door and by association...me.
I'm not going anywhere, everyone here is too great to leave...besides where else are you going to find a car as amazing as the crossfire for the money...
Thanks
-Matt.

Wow hard to believe that much damage. Good luck finding the replacement SRT. As stated you willl love the extra power. Save those wheels from your car, they look good.
i'm already following up with an SRT right now... so hopefully it was pan out very quickly...
i actually have decided not to keep the wheels... if someone wants to offer me money in the next 24 hours for them i can go get them off... but i decided to keep the stock rims.
i figured that more people would be interested in pristine stock wheels...
i would have taken the goodyear f1 a/s off the front but there is a bit of a gouge in the front right (but still very driveable)
the wheels are TSW Bremmens. 225/40/18 all the waay around. fronts have goodyear f1 a/s and the rears have pirelli snowsports
they were my winter tires..
i'll be posting up a FS about my stock wheels next week.

Glad no one was injured and sad that you lost your XF. You always kept your ride looking sweet.
Look forward to seeing you on the SRT6 forums....
