Default help with stuck key!!!

my key opens my doors, trunk and glovebox......but will not turn in the ignition....I have estimates ranging from $200-$950 to fix this problem. Has anyone else experienced this? what was the issue and total cost of repair?

I see this is your first post Craig, well Welcome aboard ! You'll find that most any topic you can come up with concerning the XFire has been discussed a time or two. Try using the search function at the top of the page and type in IGNITION SWITCH ! This should bring up several threads concerning the switch issue with your car !

Again Welcome !

Don't let them start replacing every piece of the ignition. My dealer had a crossfire with the same problem I had so they used him as "the experiment". They started replacing his tumbler and every other part. It never solved the problem but thank god it was all under warranty. Turns out the steering wheel lock mechanism was bad and is a common issue. You can find pictures of it in this forum. Some people simply replace it and others modify it (I think by cutting the metal bar). My dealership replaced mine under warranty and it has been going strong ever since. Smooth like butter.

But this is a common problem with most crossfires (like the headliner). Don't let them start ordering you all new components. Their first thought would be to replace the tumbler but that is not the problem. It is the steering wheel lock mechanism.
