Default Metallic Flang when closing the hatch

Lately, I've been noticing that when I close the hatch, there is a loud metallic flang noise. I at first thought it was the license plate, but it isn't. What are the other possibilities? Thanks.

Flang, or a clang?

I thought flang was synonymous with flung, past-tense of fling.

I try to hold the hatch all the way down and just let it lightly "click" into place. However, sometimes I do lose my grip, it slams and there is what I could call a flang or clang that reverberates for a short time. Never thougt much of it until your post.

It's odd because it just recently started doing that. I just began to notice it. The only reason i mention it is because I wonder if something could be loose or broken, etc. Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing but I have noticed it doesn't make the clang-sound when the spoiler is up and I close the hatch.
