Default My first few days with the car.

Have the Dark Grey with all Black Interior, All i have to say is:

135 MPH in a 45: $295 Fine (California)
110 MPH in a 65: $129 Fine (Oregon)
Four state road trip in your new Crossfire: Priceless.

Ended up buying in California, delivered in Nevada, and drove back to Washington. Doing 80 to 100mph in the mountians with the type of handling this car has is a thing of beauty.

Is it just me though or is 1rst geared way to high for dropping rev around 25mph. I would almost rather them get rid of 6th and even it out between 1rst and 5th.

If you havn't seen the ratio's yet here they are.
1st 4.46:1 (This is actually really high don't you think?)
2nd 2.61:1
3rd 1.72:1
4th 1.25:1
5th 1:1
6th .084:1

Anyways, this is for all you with a manual.

Wow... 135 in a 45? Wow. I'm sure I will speed a little once I get my Crossfire, but, WOW. And for $450 in fines, you should have just got a Valentnie 1. I also think if I was doing 135 in a 45 in NJ, I would not have a license anymore...

Technically I should have gone to Jail and had my license suspended. That's almost three time over the speed limit.

The CHP was really cool though. He Said, "Know how fast you were going?", "Yes, Sir", "Know what the speed limit is here (in the mountains)", "Yes, Sir", "Trying out your new toy huh?", "Yes, Sir".

I actually ended up getting out of the car and showing him the engine, boot and such. He ended up ticketing me with 85mph in a 45mph.

Both tickets I will not end up paying though. For $400 each my lawyer will take care of them.

I LOVE IT!!! That is great. How does it handle at 135??? What color did you get? Why did you go so far to buy--was that the closest deal you could find? Hey I drove mine back for 6 hours from West Texas and loved every minute of it--I skipped the 135 in a 45 though  Congrats and WELCOME to the forum!

Car handles really well around up to around 120mph. When you get past 120 though it starts comming off the road a little. Between 125 and 135 it was starting to get a little loose but not to bad. I would have gone faster but I passed the CHP at 135mph (I didn't bother looking I just hit the breaks and pulled over.)

Went to California to get the car so I could avoid the ridiculous mark-up. Purchased the car for $34,495 (MSRP). This car is a blast. I can't wait to get the supercharger on it.

You were real fortunate that the CHP officer gave you a break. In CT, 85 mph is considered to be reckless driving, which is an automatic suspension of your driving license, upon conviction, with or without a fancy attorney.

I would like to meet your lawyer that says he can get rid of 2 speeding tickets for a $400 fee. That would never happen in CT, not at those speeds. How is this disappearing act supposed to happen?

Whoa! Nuts! I got a 30-in-a-20 ticket yesterday. The amount of fun I was having at 30 certainly wasn't worth the price of admission.

I'm wondering if my low is your high. First gear to me seems way low - I wanna start in second half the time.

What superchargers have you scoped out?

joe:

That's what you get for living in CT. In Texas you just hire an attorney and your ticket 99.9% of the time get's dismissed. Granted it will cost $200-$400, but well worth it.

x-fired:

30 in a 20--what lamo police dept gave you that ticket? It must have been a school zone?

Not sure, got it from the Dodge Dealer. I had spoken with them a couple of weeks ago and they had two. But we couldn't get together on price. They told me then the cars were going to the Auction the next week. According to the Dealer the one I traded for is another one they get last week. I don't know if they traded my 6 Speed to get this one. It has 250 miles on it. My 6 Speed had 155.

Tex
I am surprised that the great state of TX, which is noted for having "2 chairs, no waiting" death penalty policy, wouldn't be harder on "serious" traffic violations.
It is just the opposite here in CT, there is about zero chance of the death penality being carried out, but don't get convicted for high speed driving.

The 4.46 first gear ratio is probably the reason why the Crossfire is one of those rare cars where the manual version has a lower city consumption rating than the automatic.

Come on this is a State that still has drive thru liquor store...speeding is nothing (at least that's why you hire an attorney and get it dismissed). Now kill someone and you will fry.

To answer the question on the supercharger. Kaufmann (I'm pretty sure this is the name I was looking into it a couple of days ago), who makes the Mercedes Kompressor supercharger is going to fit it the Crossfire 320 motor.

Right now they want 10K (Including installation, basically because they havn't done it yet so whomever is first hast to pay the premium). I figure I will wait about 6 months and get it set up. My friend said he would put 1 or 2 nitrous tanks to supplement the supercharger but...
A: That might be taking it to far and
B: Let's be honest, I need the trunk space.

Default hate to be a killjoy, but

Not impressed by 135 on a public highway. That's crazy. Wanna wring the thing out take it to a track day at some race track, there are enough spread around the country. Plunk down $200 bucks and drive your car as fast as you want, and it's on you if you scuff it up.

Nobody is a good a driver as he thinks he is, and on the highway cars pull out, tires blow out, deer jump out, pieces of retreads from tractor trailers suddenly appear...

Nobody ever planned to have an accident.

Two guys were drag racing their Acura rice burners here in the DC area a couple of weeks ago. They didn't think anyone was around. They were just seeing what their cars would do. They didn't expect a pedestrian on the road at 1 in the morning.

But there he was...he lost two legs and an arm before he finally died in the hospital. The Acura driver that hit him will do serious time. But he had a fast car.

Take your car to the track. Have fun. Wring it out. Don't do 135 on the highway. That's insane.

Picked up my Alabaster Autostick Monday in Naples Fl, Had 137 Miles on it. I had fun driving from Naples to Panama City - about 530 miles. didn't get much over 100 though. Crused at 80-85 most of the way. This car rides harder than the 6 Speed and is a lot noiser inside. I am taking to the local Chrysler Dealer to have it checked out today. Could be the tires. I'll post something in Tech Notes when I get it figured out. I also will be doing a wax test this weekend. Crystal Guard Quick Vs Zanio ZFX/Z2. I got the CGQ from Mighty and the Zanio Kit, including the ZFX, Z1,Z5,Z18 Clay Bar, and all them other Zs from Zanio Bros. The car has the factory finish with no teflon or other after market stuf. I post something in Detailing on my test results.

jimbo:

Qick note on your Zaino stuff:

You need Z2 NOT Z1 ( Z-1þ Polish Lok is NOT necessary when using ZFXþ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive)

You do NOT need to clay bar the car--it's brand new.

You need Z6 (gloss enhancer) to use between your Z2 application.

You need Z7 to wash it with.

Shopping list:

ZFX (to mix w/ Z2)
Z2
Z6
Z7

That's all you need.
