new york welcome trashes windshield
new owner of a 2006 crossfire coupe and new to forum. wanting to have some fun over the holiday i went to a yankee game over memorial day weekend and my crossfire received a new york weldome by having the windshield kicked to a million pieces(it never caved in). after finally finding a auto glass place open in brooklyn on a holiday we had to stay an extra 2 days while a "pinkerton" windshield (direct from china) was installed. desperate to get back to RI we had the windshield installed. do any memebers have any feedback on these windshields, what was and how much would the originally manufactured windsheild cost to replace??
Welcome aboard, and congrats. Replacing the windshield should not be a big deal. I assume your insurance covered it with no deductuble......
This would never happen in Illinois..

original equipment manufacturer, that is, if a chrysler dealer had done the replacement.
Mine had an oem replacement because the windshield was cracked while on the transporter, they ordered a replacement that had a matching serial # to the other glass panels

My recommendation is to make sure you have a warranty with the glass against manufacturer defects and problems with fitment. Then visually inspect the glass for any glaring and blatant defects in the glass itself. Then take it home or to a manual car wash and spray the windshield with water and look for leaks. You could also wait until it rains then go drive the car around.
If everything checks out, then I would say your windshield is probably good to go.
Claiming it on your insurance should not be a problem, Forum member "Patpur" is an insurance agent and could explain to you why it wouldn't.
As for the window coming from China, probably the only thing you'll have to be concerned with is its high "LEAD" content.
Might come in handy with keeping the Suns "radiation" out.

This reminds me of when a client and I were in Newark and looking for a place to park to take the train into NYC. We pulled into a parking lot and there were five guys totally stripping a Cadi in broad daylight. They weren't even phased by our presence. Needless to say, we found another place to park.
Pilkington supply glass to a lot of the Automotive manufacturers. You'll not have any problems with quality. Pilkington - First in Glass if you fancy finding out more!

I've seen people back into cars, move up a couple inches and get out of the car like nothing happened. Breaking a windshield for no reason is new to me though. Are you sure it was kicked in? It's common to have a rock hit the glass, and have a little crack spread across the whole windshield.
