Default Crossfire Engine Cover

I've been browsing the photo galleries here at the forum and have noticed something different on my SSB Crossfire. It appears that they've upgraded the engine cover with a custom Crossfire design. Mine is the same satin silver finish as the windshield trim and has the Crossfire logo on both sides with the same lines that are prevalent throughout the design of the automobile, anyone else have this?

I figured I'd take a picture today so that I can show you what I'm referring to in regards to the engine cover. Does everyone else here have this type of Crossfire engine cover?

Looks like the normal factory cover. Some of the early show cars had different design covers.

I wasn't sure as most of the pictures in the gallery show a black type cover without any Crossfire markings. Thanks for the confirmation, thought maybe they changed something with some of the later models.

Looks like all the ones we have gotten in. Everyone seems to like the cover, but we have nicknamed it the "Starship Enterprise , "ha.

Hi pageoneresults, re the different design of the engine cover, could you have been looking at pictures of the cover in the original display car at Detroit? If I recall correctly, the original car had a different design from the actual production piece. harleygeorge

On a slightly different note, how does one remove the top cover to get at the engine? Is it a simple four screws like the cover on the underside? And is there any functional reason for the top cover? In other words, once removed, is there any non-cosmetic reason to put it back?

I realize most MB owners probably never (or almost never) lift the hood, but I suspect Crossfire owners are going to be more likely on average to want to get in there and check things out.

Cheers,

Greg
