Ok this just started when I turn sharp to the right their is a grinding sound from the rear tire. Any idea what this is?

 

Have you changed anything recently?
I suggest you remove the wheel and look for any obvious issues.
Apart from that all I can suggest is - brakes, bearings etc.

 

I have not changed anything. Also if I just take it to the dealership any idea on what it may cost?

I suggest you remove the wheel first and check for obvious rubbing etc.
Tires do not grind, they rub, so it may be more serious, such as brakes, bearings, hubs etc.
The dealer is going to trouble shoot-it, first thing they will do is remove the wheel at a guess.

First question is, which side is grinding. Pull off that wheel and check for a rock between the sheet metal shield and the rotor or in/near the caliper. If you changed nothing and BAM! (sorry for the Emril imitation) there is a grinding noise, it is usually something stuck up in the brakes.

 

It has to be the wheel shroud (metal shield) rubbing. Sometimes they get bent. When this happens they make a grinding sound that sounds terrible rubbing against the rotor. An easy fix at any repair shop. Cost about $20.00. It happened to mine. Although I caused it when removing my rotor. I thought it was something pretty serious because of the metallic grinding noise. Also when spacers are used with aftermarket wheels and the new lugnut is to long it will go through and rub or damage the emergency brake.

 

The only change that occurs when you turn left or right is the action of the differential. Every thing else, like the brakes, moves the same. The diff. however turns the half shafts at different rates of rotation.
I would suspect the diff, CV joints or half shaft bearings.
You say the sound comes from the tires, that's a bit vague to diagnose though. Do you really mean tires or that general area? How many miles on the car?

 

I have a friend with a Tahoe that was making a grinding noise from his rear brake. When he would travel straight it was less noticeable. Turning right was louder. Turning left it went away. He fought for about a month trying to figure it out. New brakes. 2 repair shops. Dropping the drive shaft. He found out that the sheet metal shield on the left rear brake was bent. It couldn't be seen without removing the rotor. Turning right caused centripetal force and the metal to be closer to the rotor and get louder. 5 minutes of bending it back to where it was supposed to be and the noise was gone.

Please exhaust the easy options before spending big bucks.
