Why would you ever want to do this? It is not recommended to downgrade and in some states, it is against the law and may not pass inspection.

Well, I can't recommend anything in a smaller size but I have had four brands of tires on my SRT so far. The original Conti's were terrible. Rode rough and noisy. I had Yokohama Advan S.4's and liked them very much but sold the rims and tires as a package. I bought used rims that had Kumo's (can't remember model) and hated them. No traction, rode rough and noisy. I currently have General UHP's and love the heck out of them. Not real expensive, quite, ride soft, good handling etc.

Also, keep in mind that there are times that a larger tire in the exact same model may be priced lower than the smaller one so I am not sure if that was also your motive on the smaller size. You would not be disappointed in the Generals.

Actually many people have changed their tire sizes. It all depends on what "performance" application you're after.
Some have downsized to 17" wheels with taller side walls and narrow tread for winter driving. While others have installed smaller diameter rear tires to gain the effect of an over all "lower" gear ratio for better acceleration while drag racing.
Just by installing a smaller set of tires/wheels off of a "last generation" Mercedes SLK will lower your 1/4 mile ET's by a few 10ths. due to the fact of having less "rotating" mass to deal with. But you won't have that "corners like it's on rails" feeling anymore either.
If you do a "search" you will find there is much written about tire sizes and different applications. Good Luck

I used to run a 245/40/19 Dunlop sp900 on the stock rears. It gave the car a very aggressive stance and made the rim look wider. I am currently running a 275/30/19 on 19 x 9.5 RUFF racing wheels. Next i plan on running a 235/35/19 for the "stretch and poke" look used in Germany. I say if you want to use a thinner tire, go for it, it will give the x-fire a much more aggressive look.

I've got them on my roadster and love them. I do drive daily and have taken them through the dragon two trips this year; the first they were pretty close to brand new. The second trip this fall I had a little slippage and don't think they could take a third trip that way by the time I go down there with my wife next Sept.

How does that 265-30-19 look on the back? I was looking at that size myself.
Where did you buy your tires at? That is a good price if they hold up.

The website where I bought the tires is Discount Tires 2Go they actually look just as good as the 255 35 19 that I took off. I think they actually look better since they fit the wheel perfect. None of the sidewall slanting that you get with the factory tire. They don't rub either. I'll take some pics today when I get home and post them so you can see. There is about 3/4 inch diameter difference but it's not that noticeable. I plan on lowering the car this coming spring so it will look even better.

Those tires are awefully inexpensive, how have they held up so far? what is the speed rating on them? How many miles have you put on them?I only ask because the price you paid is half of what the next cheapest tires that are still decent cost. Thanks for the info.
