Thoughts on storage? Also --- this car is awesome!
First of all, my car has been sitting in the garage for the past 2 months. I take it out once in a while for a spin to keep the car going. It used to be my daily driver but now I drive an SUV. Felt great to drive the Crossfire this past weekend.... what a feeling switching back to the Crossfire!
The question is this... I am moving and don't know what to do with the Crossfire. Don't have a garage in the new place. I will have a barn that is just a covering (like a car port) and I am going to enclose it by turning it into a garage. Or should I pay the 80 dollars a month and keep it in a storage garage until I build the garage (I don't mind paying--- just wonder if it will be safe in storage). Or would you just throw a nice cover on it and keep in the carport until the garage is built.

Put the money in the structure,(and the building permits you'll need to do it) and keep a daily eye on your prize.

Agree with Frank here, make sure to keep it protected, but keep it winthin reach and a watchful eye, you will do a better job maintaining and starting it on a regaular basis if there is not an extra trip associated with it....
If I keep it with me it will be 100% safe from theft. NOBODY will get it because it will be gated and locked.... and nobody will have the guts to come through the gate. Nobody will even know it is there. I do worry about critters... no mice... just bugs building nests. And I worry about the dust blowing on it. I need to build it a garage. Just wondered if maybe storage was a good idea until I do so.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
It is always wise to keep those things that are precious close at hand.
The only thing I would keep closer than my Crossfire is my family and my 357.
Goodluck with your project.

A good car cover will keep out most of the bugs. And spider webs can be vacuumed. But I did garage my '05s last winter in a storage unit and had no issues. I even got over there twice to start them up and drive them around the lot.
If you are still having issues with storage- a car cover would be a great idea. I got a really nice one from a company called carcoversdirect.com. They offer a custom fit so it will keep out like 99% of the dust and whatever else you are trying to protect against. I love mine!
Just a thought...
Just a thought...
dkerns - no a properly used car cover will not scratch your paint. By properly used I mean you put it on a clean car. Your cover should "breathe" so moisture doesn't build up under it. You shpuld have no problems if your car is put away clean.
