Default Wheels/Snow Tires Fit?

Before I get flamed, I did a search on this and found little info, so I need some technical advice from the more knowledgeable XF owners.

I found a great set of used rims and Blizzaks right around the corner from my house. The guy says they're for "an old C Class MB." Of course I know the bolt pattern (5 x 112) will fit our cars, but will there be an offset issue, will I need spacers, and will it look weird to have these 16"s on the car, even for winter only?

Here's the listing on Craigslist (no sniping!)Thanks for any help. Reply here or PM me.

One way to find out ... go try them on. If smaller outside diameter, you'll lose ground clearance and your speedo will be off. Price sounds good; check wheels carefully for cracks.

You don't note the size of the tires, but check the specs. If the tires are about 25-26" tall (no taller on the front), they should look just fine. It's the spacers that will give you the most heart burn.

Note: there is a "Sticky" in the Wheels/Brakes/Tires forum that gives more specifics.

OK, I took your advice and went to the seller's house to try the wheels on for size.

The good news is that they fit in every respect, EXCEPT offset. The wheels have an offset of -35 (as in negative 35). That's like a 70mm difference, right?

Indeed the back wheels are really tucked inside the fenders. The fronts don't show much at all.

I know there's been a raging debate about spacers -- as yet unresolved -- but is there any problem/danger running these wheels with such a big offset difference?

Even 20mm spacers would hardly get me close.

The price was so good, I may just keep all four as "fronts" and buy a matching set of rear wheels/blizzaks that fit better.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

They look good. I just ordered a set of these from the tire rack. They recommended 17 or 18" rims. I got the 18" rims.
