No spare tire?
I want to buy the crossfire for my wife, but I am concerned that she could be stranded or need to get towed just for a flat tire. has anyone used the compressed gas canister to fill a tire?
Thanks
Thanks
It has an electric compessor that does a pretty good job. I had to use it once. I didn't use the fix-a-flat. I had a small piece of metal still in the tire and it was creating a slow leak. I was able to get it fixed. It cost $65.00 but I have tire and wheel protection plan that I got when I bought the car and I was reimbursed.

WMichaels: I have seen some posts that "imply" free towing if you get a flat. I cannot find that in any of my documentation. -- I would appreciate it if you could give me some input on this tire and wheel insurance you have :?: .
We are going Florida to surprise our son and daughter soon by showing up with our Crossfire (they do not know we have it) but we are troubled by the tire situation. -- Any help is appreciated -- Ed 8)
Tires on the crossfire are run-flat, allows you to drive safely up to 50 mph should the tire lose air pressure. I don't see it as a huge concern. Lots of luxury cars now these days do not come with spares anymore. That includes the newer Mercedes, ie. SL500, SLR, SLK, etc.

The insurance covers tires and wheels. If they are damaged in any way they will be either repaired or replaced at no charge to me. I don't remember what the cost was. I'll have to pull out my contract to see. Whatever it was I decided it was worth the money.

I purchased it through the dealer but it's an independent. It's called R.O.A.D. INTIRE roadside assistance. Of course towing is also a part of this coverage.
Ed....The free Towing you read about from DC is their standard 24 hour Towing Assitance. It provides free towing in the event that a warrantied component fails.

The free towing from D/C works as advertised.
You call the 800 number, give them some of the info from your car, and they call around to get you a tow. I only waited about 45 minutes from the time I called until the tow truck pulled up. Actually, it was a small car carrier. I don't think you are supposed to tow a Crossfire.
And I also think I will consider run flats for my next set of tires, asuming they are available in 18" fronts and 19" rears...

FYI...
I had a one week wait for a new tire here in Phoenix. Until the stockpile of these "specialty" tires are built up in the larger cities, you may get caught waiting somewhere You don't want to be.
