Default Automatic for the people......sounds like a song

OK, I'm almost there, just about to give into that gut feeling that's telling me I NEED A CROSSFIRE but..............manual or auto shift - which is it ? :? Come on folks which one should it be..............any long term experiences out there that you can share to shed some light on my dilema :?:
Thanks.

I've got the auto and I love it!

It's one of the most solid automatics I've ever seen. When the torque converter locks in it feels like a manual tranny. The auto stick feature is really nice too. I've auto-crossed mine once and am again this Sunday. The auto stick really comes in handy. I'll have pictures to post on Monday.

I got the auto and love it! my other car is a standard and I like to drive it also but in the stop and go driving of Tucson the auto was the right choice its still a very spirited ride I treat my Crossfire as a cruiser the auto is right for me

Go for the auto. Mercedes makes the best auto trannies. I would say get the 6 speed, but the Xfire just isn't that performance oriented to get one.

The 6-Speed manual is not the smoothest in the world. If I had to do it over I'd go for the Auto-Stick.

I love my 6 speed it is a bit clunky going into 2nd gear on cold mornings but that is the only issue I have with it

Depends on what you use the car for. Is it for everyday or just for fun, is the travel into work stop and go or plan sailing, do you travel surface streets or freeway. The list can go on and on. I have ordered a Auto because of freeway (motorway) driving during rush hour traffic both ways. Have a manual now and it is a pain in the ***.

Thanks for all the good feed-back. It's all been very useful.
Furthermore, as I've read some horror stories about the manual jumping out of first into neutral, and the fact that a lot of the driving I do is in traffic, married to the fact that MB do make very silky autos I'll opt for the automatic.
Maybe you did. Maybe you walk.
Maybe you rock around the clock
Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
Maybe I ride. Maybe you walk.
Maybe I drive to get off, baby 8)

We have had a manual 6spd for a field car in our office since July some time. It has over 13k miles now. We have had at least 60 different people drive it. I have taken it out a few times myself. Never had one transmission issue with it.

I purchased my own 6spd crossfire back in November. No issues with mine, however I only have just shy of 3k miles on it.

Some say its the driver, some say its an adjustment.

Radio was replaced under the update, no questions asked. I'm happy with my purchase.

can only say I have always always had manuals the UK is a mostly manual country especially in sports cars......but Xfire is best in Auto, is so much smoother and the torque converter is 1st class.

Manual is notchy and lifeless, never thought i'd buy an auto sports car but the xfire suits the auto box best

DFWSBR aka Friendly Tire Expert,

From what I've gathered, there were only a handfull of the earlier production 6-speeds that had the transmission problem. DC first tried a fix, but most ended having the transmission replaced which was the case for my car. All is well now.

Just curious as to the production numbers of your companies field car and yours.
