Default Trading up

How many of you are thinking of trading up to the SRT-6 when it becomes available :?:
As I haven't yet ordered my Crossfire (base) I'm not sure if I shouldn't wait a few more months and go for the more powerful version.
First ex-factories should be in May '04.

I have no intention of trading my Crossfire up.

I like the looks.
The handling is great.
It has plenty of power for my driving.
I have had no major problems with it.

In my opinion, your only reason to wait is that you would be getting a 2005 model, and not lose any value in such a short amount of time. Plus you could get blue......

Or, if there are any available, you could pick up a 2004 at a possibly a really great price. That is something to consider, since you have to pay $78K for this car!!!

Asked the sales manager in the UK dealers today if they were taking orders for the SRT or supercharged x-fire.
According to him its just a rumour that they're being made but if i wanted one maybe I should go to Mercedes and ask about having an engine fitted.

Come on DUCK do you want all your customers to go to or back to Mercedes.Get your dealers up to date before you become OUT OF DATE.

Hello Macjake,
Don't you just hate it when you know more than your dealer
I mean, in November of 2003, Chrysler CEO Dieter Zetche does a multi- city tour talking up new products to the dealers, and one of those new products scheduled for ex-factory delivery in May '04 is the much vaunted Crossfire SRT-6 :!:
Even carsdirect.com have got the low down on this vehicle.
My local dealer here in Portugal is looking into it for me - of course there's ging to be a price hike - but if he doesn't come up true blue then I'll get in touch with a German dealer and start talking direct import.
This engine really could put the FIRE in Crossfire and eliminate all that guff we have to take from the RX8 and 350Z clans.
If I can't get an SRT-6 I'll gladly go for the base model as this car really gets me where it hurts............my wallet

I keep cars for a long time, I had my Crossfire's trade for 16 years and am working on 10 years for my Volvo Station Wagon but if the SRT-6 comes available I will probably trade. The only thing the Crossfire needs for me is more power to equal it's awesome looks. But I may pass this Crossfire over to my wife and trade the Volvo, but that's my carry car and I can't see stuffing a large screen TV into the Crossfire's "trunk".

Stormbird
The dealer I have used is only small but on a main road in the country (bush's ect...) and have today got six unsold crossfires sat in their garage in place of the usual jeeps.
I personally think the car is great but there are flaws which have to be sorted,I'll find out at the end of the week if all my warranty claims are to be dealt with.
If the new parts are this time up to scratch I'll trade for a SRT if the price is right, but I'll only use a dealer who knows whats on offer as I'm fed up with being treated like I'M THE ONE TALKING ****.

To me the RX8 looks like a frog from the front so I'll probably **** my pants laughing if I ever see a green one.
The 350z didn't appeal to me like the crossfire when I ordered in Dec 02 although we were promised 275bhp.
The looks did it for me alone, but now I'm getting used to the drive I want the extra zing to go with the looks.

In the end it will come to pricing which in the UK we won't know until the day before the car comes out.

Have you looked at importing from the US or is the tax on importing going to bump the price up?

I'm not trading my crossfire and if I'll have to spend more money for more power ( $ 8,000+ ) I'll consider going to Kleeman as they can give me what I wanted.

MacJake,
I've no idea how much extra the SRT-6 will cost, in Portugal where I am that is.
The base Crossfire will already set me back ’44,000 Sterling - that's due to the Portuguese Vehicle Tax being based on cubic capacity. As the cc on the SRT-6 is unchanged I presume that here in Portugal the increase in price will be the Supercharger itself which considering the base price I need to pay, may not make that big a diference. Let's see.
Importing fromt the Staes is a no-no as apart from freight charges, the tax authorities slap me with the same bill as if the car were originally purchased here - lovely.
As for Kleemans, well they don't do it here in Portugal and I'm not driving all the way to Germany to have it done - would prefer to have an SRT-6 trailered in from Osnabruk.

Doubt it. Increase in price and insurance plus taking a bath with any trade-in may not make it worthwhile.

Default NO WAY....

I posted the original thread because I was in doubt as to wether I should buy the Crossfire or wait for the SRT-6.
Well boy, one look at the official 'photos - see SRT-6 Forum - and I know that I DO NOT WANT an SRT-6 with those looks, awsome engine or not. The looks are laughable - horrible - Rice with Rice awful

I seldom cruise the other forums but your comments on the SRT prompted a look. I would agree that wing on the coupe is a little too much, but then I grew to love the rather radical wing on the Porsche 911 after awhile. I prefer the existing design, but with more power on tap it could be a wind tunnel issue if the speed is allowed to exceed the governed 150mph. More likely a styling que designed to set it apart from the standard Crossfire.

I doubt if it will make it into production however, and being an add-on it's quite easy to fix. What worries me is that with the existing Crossfire sitting unsold on lots, that SRT will just sit also, unless priced reasonably and highly hyped in the media.

The color on the coupe looked nice, reminded me of a light blue on a Buick Riveria I once owned. Beautiful car and it wore that blue very well.

You said it!!! Chrysler is doing absolutely nothing to promote the Crossfire. I think they are reasonably price now and they wouldn't have to lower prices if they did something to sell them. DC really has their head up their rear end on this subject.
