Looking to Buy A Crossfire...
Hey everyone,
I am a college student and am looking to buy a Crossfire, I've always been a big fan of the car. I am looking at the Automatic configuration.
I was wondering what things to look for, pro's, con's ect. When looking to buy the car.
Any tips, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Purchased my Crossfire Roadster, used a 2005, with 38,800 miles and auto trans two weeks ago. I am getting 24MPG around town and really enjoy the car. I wish I had purchased one long ago...
Good Luck,

its a real fun car, sort of kinda expensive for maintenance. a oil change will run you 80-100$ to do it your self. real fun car though. now is a good time to buy actaly.great deals are going on now.try to find a 04 with about 40k or so can get one for about 10k. you will enjoy the car i am 18 i love it. a lot of fun DIY mods available. good luck searching
What types of things should I look for in the car itself,
like, areas for rust, underbody parts, engine components, should i ask certain questions?
I'm totally new in this whole area. Thanks.

if u find rust on a 04 or newer then hell no don't buy it lol. should b no body rust at all. make sure all shocks are good. interior should be looking mint on all theses years. dont buy nothing over 50k. with a auto u should not have trouble with the trans. look for foggy headlight lenses. car should look new all over.if it doesn't look new they don't buy.i got a 04 last year white with 30k on the clock manual an it ran n look brand new.

This is a common problem area, and can be found on any year, in any part of the country. Don't let it be a deal breaker, but if you find it on a car that you're interested in, you can use it as a bargining chip. In most cases it's a pretty simple "at home" repair.
Don't be afraid of a car over 50k, (after all they're a Mercedes) just pay accordingly. But there are plenty of lower mileage cars available, so get as new as you can afford.
Try to find one with NEW tires, that can be your biggest expense.
Good Hunting.
Nothing wrong with a car over 50k. I actually prefer a car with a few miles that is well driven. As for the door rust.... not a real problem. These doors won't rust apart to scraps despite what people think. Not that big of a deal and normal on most cars. Don't panic about that.

Kip, I found an 05 red coupe for a friend last fall. Had 70 K on the clock. Car is awesome, she loves it and if she wins the SRT raffle, I'm gonna buy it from her. She paid under $9,000 for the car.
I have 25K on my '06 and can't really tell a difference.
If the car looks like it was rode hard and put away wet, it probably was. So walk away.
Good deals in Texas, and in Indiana. Where are you?
roadster with a stick
BTW don't buy a black one while you are in school.

The same engine was used in many Mercedes Benz cars....there was a story in a newspaper about a traveling salesman that put 440,000 miles on his & basically did nothing but change the oil. The oil life monitor will usually let you go > 8,000 miles / change.....0w-40 full synthetic....mobil-1.

hey i just got my two weeks ago. its a 05 45k miles for 11,7. best move of my young life"im only 20".. just buy it. every time i stop to fill up the tank i have some one telling me how nice my car is. when they tell me how nice my car is all i can do is grin and say thank you
Okay, here is some more indepth insight as to buying one of these babies as I just purchased mine a month ago. I'm only 18 but I did ALOT of research prior to buying mine. I paid 12,900 for my crossfire srt-6 and it had 38,001 on the clock. I was very patient and waited to find the best deal possible. Don't ever just buy a car ever because you want one so badly. I waited a year to find mine. If it's a srt, check to see if it has the nav system, ( all x-fires ) check if the top drivers part of the heated seat works, deff check if the tires are new or old ( I just actually went to Pep boys for quotes for tires and they are gonna cost 400 each for M sport tires, rotors were crazy exspensive as well, rotors alone were 200, non srt make sure the wing pops out, and listen to the speakers and make sure nothing is blown, check the wearing on the leather on the drivers side seat down at the bottom of the seatbelt, These are all the key things to look for with these cars, but I'm telling you, buy an SRT-6. It is sooo worth the few thousand extra. I PROMISE you will love your car.
I just bought mine about a month ago..i had a hyundai tiburon and totaled it.. I am SOO happy i got into that accident lol the crossfire is such a nice car and an awesome upgrade from what i had! Heres a tip go on ebay and look for deals if you dont mind traveling. I live in CT and found mine in Texas for a real good deal 05 limited with 28,000 miles for 11,900. You can find some amazing deals on ebay. Also on ebay its really helpful i found to read the reviews, theres nothing but good things said about the car, the only thing i found that people didnt like is the cupholder which isnt a big issue. You will not be sorry at all! This car is deff a head turner!
