Default Help!!!

The tech cracked my engine cover while removing it. There's an MB cover on Ebay and an OEM (used) on this forum, but I thought I'd see if anyone here has any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Don

Air flows better in a MB for an NA which equals a small gain in HP. I wasn't sure if you had an NA or SRT though.

Now might be a good time to upgrade to a cold air intake (CAI).

I agree - Why aren't they buying a new one for you? Is your car under warranty? Certification? I'd sure ask the shop manager about it.

The dealership is looking for one for me, but I suspect that the $$$$ will come out of the tech's pocket. He's a nice guy and I can afford it more than he can.

Is that stupid????

Nope, not stupid at all. In fact very nice. It's called "paying it forward" and if more of us did it (when appropriate) the world would be a much better place.
Just my opinion

Not at all - but the shops are insured for damages like this.
Does not matter if you have more cash, that shop caused the damage. They need to be more careful with other peoples property. Maybe on the next car, or next time they work on yours, they will be more particular.

Shops are insured for collisions and cars falling off lifts. There is generally a $1000 deductible. If one of our guys damages a car he is responsible for the deductible. It encourages the guys to take care.
That engine cover doesn't cost $1000 so the insurance company will never know about it.

We've got over 100 techs and 136 bays. Occasionally something gets bent. Luckily, we have a body shop to deal with it. Since we're primarily a Mercedes dealer those are the most frequent victims. We had a Porsche Panamera suffer damage a couple weeks ago. I'm just glad we haven't hurt a Bentley, Rolls, SLR, or Veyron. That would be ugly.
