Default pos malfunction or intelligent windshield wipers???

hey, fellow crossfire owners. has anyone noticed anything abnormal about your windshield wiper speeds??? reason I ask is that i recall (on the forum) that we are only equipped with the equivalent of slow/normal/fast.

well, this morning, driving in steady rain, noticed that while i had the wipers on what would be considered 'normal' speed, as i approached and slowed/stopped at each light, the timing changed. is there a setting/function i'm not aware of???

my setting was definitely in the 'normal' range, but as I approached and stopped at each light, it was as if my baby sensed how much moisture was actually on the windshield  and switched to slow! weird, i know, but i hadn't noticed that since taking ownership (purchased) in october 2003 (alabaster, autostick).

anyone have something similar to share (I miss the old intermittent wipers, but I am fine with our standard crossfire choices, this just really struck me as odd...and was definitely noticeable). thanks! bonster

The wipers are controlled by the body module and are speed sensitive.

There seems to always be something new to learn about this car. It has so many bells and whistles on it that it could really start nickle and diming you way down the road.

It finally rained in California and I too was surprised by the automatic change in wiper speed.

Someday I promise to read the darn manual, but in the meantime I'm glad I have all you guys to tell me what's what. Thanks!

I remember the first time I noticed it - and I thought it was the neatest little feature. I had to immediately call someone!

Did you also notice that the radio volume goes down a bit when you stop, and then back up at speed?

Or is that my imagination?

shouldn't the radio volume go the other way? Loud at idle and soft as you speed up...so that you can hear the engine growl...

jsisabella, i really hope you're not kidding on that one (no emoticons, so i'm taking you seriously), but i, too, have THOUGHT, and i am not kidding, that the volume went down a bit.

at the time i thought, no way...and never really thought much about it after that until your post. so, hope you were serious on that one or i'm ops: ! bonster

That reminds me of mom and dad always saying the "less things in the car means the less things go wrong!". I do kinda miss the days of my 66 Mustang and being able to see the ground when I popped the hood. But I don't miss no A/C, AM Radio only, no power anything, etc.

I was not kidding....

I did not see anything in the manual about it, but the manual kind of leaves a lot to be desired....

Do you Guys or Gals know about the Heater control that will turn on an electric pump. The pump will circulate coolant through the heater when the car is off so when you return its warm inside.Rest button on a/c control.

I had no idea what "Rest" was. That's really cool.

Thanks!

As long as we're talking about buttons, when I push the button (I think it's below the AC button) that (I assume) recirculates the air (the red light goes on) instead of allowing it to come from outside, it automatically shuts off in a very short period of time...maybe 10 minutes? Which, in traffic, is not enough to get me through some of the cow towns (literally) around here...stinky!

Is that the way it's supposed to work?

The button your talking about is the Recirc/Rest button. When running it sets the a/c to recirculate inside air. When the key is off it sets the residual heat pump and blower speed.

Thanks CFTech! Is the Recirc supposed to turn off automatically after 10 minutes or so? I turn it on, and then look at it a little later, and the light is off. Is that normal?

Might that be a safety feature to make sure the air inside the car does not get stale and low on O2...........just a thought.
