Crossfire at 10000 Feet?
Okay, okay let me explain. While I know this part of the forum is exclusively for Crossfire ques--I will get back around to that in this story as you read on...
So first things first, today I flew SOLO for the first time!! I've been working on my private pilots license for the past 2 months (in between work travel and other things) so that I could fly myself to places when I wanted to go (plus the wife loves it, and we are looking already at a plane for purchase)...but I digress. So that was the HIGHLIGHT of my year (SEE pic gallery for some pictures).
But, here somes the loop to Xfire. So, the place where I fly out of has a bunch of exec's and celebrities that come in and out on their Gulfstream's and other jets--basically every kind of high end car sits in the parking lot. But the only one that ALWAYS get's the looks and comments (and I mean I'm flying out of there on lessons 2-3 times a week) is the Crossfire. So after my first solo today, I pulled the car around to the front (there is a lobby area that everyone waits before their flight, etc...) to run back in for a quick picture with my instuctor. As I was coming back to the Crossfire a gentleman in the lobby asked how I liked the car--I said fine, blah, blah, blah (same stuff I always say). Then he tells me the works for DCX, and so that peaked my attention--I asked doing what he said marketing. So I really started to talk and tell him pro's/cons. Well, as it turns out, I came home and looked up the guy on the DCX site, and sure enough--SVP of Marketing for DCX George Murphy. Very cool...

To be quite honest it was one of those things I started thinking about on the way home...if I could only take back the 3 minutes I talked with him. Of course if I would have been ready for who he was and his "real" role, maybe I could have giving more thought to it. Believe me, he did not mention his real job--SVP--just "in marketing" so I did not really think about it.
Heck who cares, I was still stoked on my solo flight--and I still love the Crossfire 8)

Congrats on your solo. I remember doing the same in 1982. Its quite a thrill. There is nothing like being able to go to the airport and take off with no where to go and just fly. I flew for about 10 years. Owned a C-172. Still love to fly. Kind of the same feeling I get now just driving the Xfire. Did it today. Just went out for a drive with no place to go. When I gave up flying 100 LL was about $1.80/gal. I was wondering what it is now or is all PP flying being done on Auto fuel?
Flying is great. Stick with it as long as you can. I never did anything else where I learned so much about so many different things, and met so many people.
Take lots of pictures.
Remember, keep the dirty side down and the pointy end forward.

and yes, the crossfire opens doors. i'm amazed at how many people know all about it but have yet to make the move. they just have trouble getting their minds around the idea of spending 30-some grand in a chrysler dealership. but they know all about it and are just drawn to it when they finally meet one in real life. they keep gettin nose-smudges on it.

Hey Texex...CONGRATS
on the solo flight! While I never intend to get a license, I usually take a training flight when I visit a new city...way cool way to see some amazing sights from above. Got hooked when an old boyfriend used to take me to San Diego for dinner from SNA.
I'm sure you've heard it before: "There are old pilots and bold pilots, but very few old bold pilots!"
Best wishes to you! 8)

My one regret in life is not getting my private pilots license. I taught ground school in the Navy, and using simulators taught Naval Aviators navigation and emergency procedures but never did get my own ticket. I have however started and taxied a F4U "Corsair" WW2/Korea Navy/Marine Fighter. That was a major league rush to see that big radial turn that 4 bladed prop and sit way up on top of those "gull wings."
