Default The good & bad news on potential purchase

Good news: 2006 LTD Coupe--a stick w/very low mikes. One owner, Chrysler Certified from dealer. Bad news: not the idea color for me but moreover, car is @500 miles away & chances of personal inspection are slim. Issues: Asking price is 17,000--a bit more than I had hoped to spend but not totally out of the question. My cost of shipping to my hometown is around $500 but my major concern is not being able to eyeball the vehicle (looking for rust &tc...) and not being able to take a test drive. Questions--wisdom of purchasing sight-unseen (and trusting dealer) as well as the issue of 17 grand for an '06. Thanks in advance for advice & feedback from the Forum.

I'd recommend not buying it if it's not the color you are wanting ... there are plenty of them available, so one in the color you want would probably pop up right after you sign the contract.

Also, someone on the forum would likely go look at it for you if you post the location. I'd hope there was some kind of warranty though, at least a 30 day bumper-to-bumper warranty for a 2006 if bought sight unseen. You could ask the dealer for that as a condition of purchase ... I'd still hold out for the ideal color though.

You know, it's much better to wait for the car that has what you want. Also don't think of buying anything sight unseen. It's risky and in today's market you don't need to take risks to get what you want at a fair price. Patience is your friend. (My humble recommendation from experience)

The Crossfire forum has owners strategically placed throughout North America, Canada, and Europe. I bet if you're interested in a certain car, some forum member would be happy to check it out for you.
As for shipping, why not just fly in and drive it home? Many have done it. 500 miles is just a nice Sunday afternoon drive in a Crossfire.
Good Luck

I sell cars and here are the sales at the auction for an 06. If you did not know, 6 spds have a $500 deduct by the book which means they should be cheaper---call your bank. How low is low miles? Even at 10k miles, the price is $4000 over wholesale---it's high.

Oh---get the color that you want.

06/28/10 OHIO Regular $13,000 9,958 Above BLACK 6G M Yes
06/17/10 EL PASO Regular $12,800 22,410 Above GREY 6G A Yes

I must agree that you should be patient. I spent one year shopping around for the color, interior, and extremely low mileage that I wanted-- and eventually found WHAT I wanted-- '05 Aero Pearl Blue with two-tone gray interior and only 2,850 miles on the clock....But the total deal maker for me was that the basket netting to the left of the passenger seat near the floor had never been tampered with! It remains in the same condition 15 months later.. That sealed the deal!! I test drove other Crossfires until I found this one only 2 hours away. THAT was a nice ride home!!!!

Good luck in your search!

Monty

Hi

Get the color that you want, all that you want. Price included

Give a bit more time to yourself. Don`t be impatient...

I live in Texas, bought mine in Vermont. drove it back 2000 miles! road trip

17k is too much. get one for less than 20 000 miles. you should be fine.
as soon as you go that low miles, dealers will be hungry with your dollars...

hope this helps!!!!!

I too was uncomfortable with buying a crossfire sight unseen. So I flew from Los Angeles to Dallas and test drove it. Then drove it 1500 miles home for a test drive. 07 limited, 1509 miles, the wife's favorite color, dark single color interior (her preference) and the required 6 speed trans. Perfect.

By the way, paid $16,900 and could not be happier. Compared to the G37 coupe she was eye balling, it was a score for my checkbook.

I will sell my srt-6 coupe so long as that aero blue srt is still for sale. SSB 40,000 miles, 2 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty left and transferable....

Thanks to all who offered thoughts on the car & especially Mike who went to check it out for me. Unfortunately, the car was sold. It was an alabaster ltd coupe--grey interior--stick w/less than 5,000 miles & the dealer was around $16,000 at the time of sale. A great deal on a clean car. They shipped it to Washington state. Anyway--still on the look out. There seem to be a lot more convertibles than coupes on the market. I've also noticed that most of the 07-08 coupes offered for sale are automatics. I did find a low-miles '04 black w/a stick that is nearby & am going to check it out this week.
