Man I never thought the gap would be that big.... I was thinking 50-50.

Still happy I got the 6 speed. Can't imagine driving a 2 seater with an automatic. Like ketchup on a hot dog.

I bought the automatic, wife issues, but long for the six speed. Maybe a clutched convertable next year and the wife keeps the auto.

I wouldn't go that far Heb80. I think I have a ton of fun with mine and it's going to get a lot more fun real soon.

With initial results showing a 2:1 ratio of auto:manual, maybe a quick survey of some folk's Chrysler lots is in order? Perhaps a majority of the ones on the lots are manuals, and aren't moving because everybody just KNOWS a REAL sports car MUST have a manual but CF is 'perceived' as lacking enough power to be a REAL sports car? I'll stop by my local dealership this evening and see what the ratio of auto's to manual's is on their lot.

At my companies' lot here they have had 2 6-speeds and 4 autos... ... about the right ratio...

And you're right.. all the 6-speed drivers are out enjoying the roads instead of posting here

Manual transmission

Just an old traditional type of guy, sport cars are supposed to be standard, not auto.

If I was using the Xf to commute to work, then I would have bought an auto

Ive owned only manual cars for years but this is the first auto Ive bought since 85. This car with Auto is way better than manual because its the excellent Mercedes SLK Auto trans which shifts very smooth and quickly and I wouldn't have it any other way. Yes, the muscle car era was about manual but the auto trans many times wasn't able to handle all that power. This german Auto trans is wonderful! 8) ----------------And Yes the Crossfire is a true Sports Car, with Class, Looks, and Power.

getting back on topic....

I agree, a real sports car such as the XF should have 3 pedals. I grew up in the UK driving sticks, simply cos that's what most cars are. I was disappointed to find that auto trannys are sooooo common over here in the US  The idea of any one choosing an auto for an out-and-out sports car such as an Corvette boggled my mind.

I love the feeling of control and connectedness you get from a stick  But I have to admit there is a practicality aspect. :?

For me looking to use an XF as a daily driver and having to face being stuck in the So. Cal traffic jams, the autostick makes more sense; though obviously I am torn.

...So I'm curious about everyone's perception of the autostick.

Do any of you guys and gals with the autostick actually 'use' the autostick function much :?: ...or does it just end up being something you play with on an occasional basis :?:

And does an autostick come somewhat closer to a stick that a plain old tranny :?: ...I would hope so, but never having driven one I don't know.

Looking forward to all your inputs on this one... :!:
