Default Faulty Steering box Under warranty?

Some play in the wheel. Had Chrysler take a look. They came back with "It's your steering box....That's about $3,000 to replace." Have since purchased the steering stabilizer, yet haven't installed it. I do have the 7 / 7 warranty....Will Chrysler pick up the tab?

Thanks,

Monty

If they treat you like they did me the answer is no. My Xfire was broght to dealer with 1 week left on bumper to bumper for brake noise AND weird groan sound when turning left. Brake problem was fixed but 1 week after warranty expired started having problems turning wheel to left at slow speeds. Took car back and they claimed this was new problem and not related to left turn groan that was brought to their attention prior to expiration.

To make a long story longer, I called Chrysler and stated my case and they ultimately offered to make me only pay 1,000 towards the 3500 steering box. I did pay it just to get it fixed but I have been fighting them since to get my 1k back that I feel I deserver.

Just a final comment. Even if I had not brought to their attention prior to expiration, the car was one fricken week out of warranty and I have owned 4 chryslers in past 8 years. They could easily have paid this repair no questions asked. For this I think they are supreme A-holes.

Good luck and I hope they treat you more fairly than they did me. FYI, this is not covered under powertrain.

I think I get this "noise" too when I turn my steering wheel it happens almost in the first 2 inches of the actual turn it starts making a groaning noise...It could be the fact that I have rims and tires but I am not 100% sure...
