Default Spark Plugs and Wires for Performance Inc.?

Just bought the X-Fire 2 weeks ago and trying to replace some things that it seems like it needs Looking to get new Plugs and wires that will increase my performance. Anyone had any experience and would highly recommend a particular brand? Try doing the search function however didnt come up with any clear specific answers. Thanks for th help if you got it.

I have the NGK Spark Plugs and the Magnecor wires. I would recommend them, because you notice a slight difference in acceleration and throttle response. They are expensive, but they also look good compared to the stock ones. I would really recommend them. Once they are installed, they will be worth the money

I heard some people say 10hp gain, but I def. dont believe in that.

Check with Rob from Needswings. He's got them at a good price...

+1 on the NGK iridium plugs and Magnecor wires.

I am very pleased with the ones I put in my car. Go with the one step colder plugs on the site that Germany listed - you won't be disappointed.

+2 on the NGK + Magnecor combo. Plugs will run you 7-8 each and the wires around 150 for a set. If you install both yourself then both could be done for <250 in my opinion.

Keep in mind there are 12 plugs on these babies. I'm also skeptical that just plugs and wires will increase hp by 10. The manufacturers usually optimize that combination and unless yours are real worn or in poor shape, I cannot believe that much difference. But if they look cool and you need (or want) them, knock yourself out. PS - Same for K&N. I noticed a tad better gas mileage but no noticeable performance increase. The risk is dirtier air but the benefit is a "forever" air filter.

My Crossfire has 80,000 miles on it as well if that matters, dont believe they've ever been changed from the stock ones they came with.

Depends how many modifications you have. If you car is stock and you want to keep like that, the normal ones are good enough. If you're planning to make mods in the near future, I would recommend the 1 heat colder ones. Reminds me, I need to change mine ^^

But if i get the one heat colder ones, they should be fine as well right? Even if I end up not doing any other mods, but if i do I want them just in case.

I'm not a spark plug guru, but I think it wouldent be too bad.

If ur gonna enjoy changing the cables and spark plugs on an XF by yourself, be patient. Its a pure pain in the a**, but worth it at the end. Just need the right tools.

Dont you need to Torque the spark plugs to certain level? Anyone?--------

Torque specs for the spark plugs are in the manual.

dont forget to apply a thin layer of antiseize to the threads of the plugs to prevent galling of the threads in the aluminium heads. torque specs are critical as well . you can also clock the plugs to ensure a complete burn. takes time but worth it

the trick to easy spark plugs swapping....

remove the single bolt for each motor mount and jack up one side of the motor at a time with a jack and block of wood, just dont forget to put the motor mount bolts back in

Good advice here about antisieze on the plug threads. But I'll have to say that IMHO clocking the plugs is a complete waste of time. Is there one person on this forum that could tell you exactly(instructions) how to "clock the plugs" in our Crossfires? I mean 12 plugs oriented which direction(exactly)? They're not all going to be the same. It's hard enough to change our plugs normally. What a nightmare it would be to do this. Even if you did this procedure, my bet is that the gain is insignificant to undetectable; at least in our vehicles. If there is one Crossfire owner or Mechanic that has actually done this(on an M112), and realized any gain, I would love to hear about it.
