I might be buying an '04 coupe (Limited) tomorrow. I just found this forum, so I'm still scouring to answer my questions.

A local dealer (not Chrysler, but they do have MB) has the car with 44K mi. for $10k. I thought about offering $9k. Not bad, right?

Am I correct that as the second owner (according to Carfax), I would be eligible to transfer the remainder of the powertrain warranty for $150? The car was first registered in Feb. 2005, so that would give me until Feb. 2012 or 80k mi.

Also, I'm looking at $800+ tires every couple of years - yikes!

Anyway, everyone here seems great; if I get the car, I'm sure you'll see me here quite a bit.

$9k is a fair offer.. dealers know people come in to haggle and set the price accordingly. And yeah, the tires are scary, but they do their job. Good luck, and hope to see you around.

I think you are correct about the transfer unless the original owner took a rebait. Make sure the dealer knows how important this transfer is to you and have him research it and include it in the deal.

You can find good tires in stock sizes in the $600 to $700 range. Look at Hankook, B F Goodrich, falken and some others.

Good luck making your deal and let us know how it turns out.
