Default Your Help Please

I went out to start my xcrossfire (2007) and everyhthing seemed fine until I put my foot on the brake. A light came on (right side of instrument panel) -- the light outage indicator. Light stays on until I shut car off but doesn't come back on until I step on the brake pedal. Could it have anything to do with brake pads being low but I couldn't image that pads are gone with low mileage. Purchased the car in June 09 with 10,400 miles it now has 12,200. Not sure what this means--hope you don't mind me asking for help.

Could you describe what it looks like? If it only comes on when you step on the brake it means you have a brake light out

Can't remember exactly and I'm not near my car or manual at the moment but it was a little yellow light. Pretty easy to check - look round the back?
