Weather here in SC has been really great for a couple of days - 61 on Wednesday; 51 today. So I got the XFire out, cleaned it up and took a ride around the block. I couldn't help myself. 20 miles later I came back home wearing 'permagrin'! It's a BIG BLOCK!!!

 

BITE ME! it's now going south of 6 below, probably -20 and YOU take a ride. Come on Reb!!!!! We'll treat you to some Yankee character!!!! LOL! Good for you. Envy, obviously!

Shoveled snow for several hours (Wed-Thurs)......my cats aren't even asking to go outside....

 

16 here and snowing again. Someone please turn off the snow machine.

 

Been 70 degrees all week in south Texas. Just got cold yesterday. Supposed to be highs this weekend near 60 and lows just above freezing.

I am used to cold weather up north. People here think this is cold... I still go outside in a short sleeve shirt. This "cold" is a joke!

By the way, where is Al Gore hiding?

I just had a phone interview for a job in Memphis. They are setting up a followup interview now...
Dont really want to move, but I do really want to get back to work!!

Weather in Memphis is probably close to our Upstate SC climate. We're probably a little warmer in the winter with more humidity in the summer. Memphis will usually get more snow that we will. Others closer to your job possibility can verify or dispute.

But as locations go, Memphis is pretty neat. You're probably no more than a 4-6 hour one-way drive to Dallas (DFW XFire Group); New Orleans; St. Louis (Gateway Crossfire Group); Nashville (2+ hrs); Knoxville; Birmingham; Jackson, MS; Branson, MO ('hillbilly' Vegas) and The Ozarks (Northern Arkansas/Southern MO).

And the BBQ is really good there. It's not like KC BBQ, which I grew up on, but it's good nevertheless.

And maybe the best thing is that your driving trip to the XFire ToD events in the Spring & Fall would go from 2650 miles (3+ days) to 500 miles (7.5 hrs). I'd move!!!!

 

Don't really consider myself a Southerner, since we (Roberta & I) grew up in KCMO. But we've been in the SE-USA for 35+ years and the accent & local 'dialects' have sorta creeped into our speech. I do know that we've all but forgotten to say hello. It's hey here in SC.

 

I have been out to Charlotte,NC and West Columbia,SC for work and enjoyed it.... never in winter though.

Having so many Crossfire enthusiast's so close was also something I thought of...

I'll let y'all know how things go.... hopefully next week..

Memphis offers some of the best BBQ you'll ever taste. I'm a connoisseur in the fine art of cooking great BBQ and let me tell you, the dry rub ribs at Rendezvous and Corky's hickory smoked ribs are some of the best your taste buds will ever experience.

Mike, if moving to Memphis is in your future, let me know. We have some good friends that live there that can help you out with finding a place to live. Like most populated cities, Memphis has some bad areas and good areas to live.

Went to work at 8 this morning with the outside temp reading -4, and the roads are pure white from SALT!!! I can't wait until a good thaw and rain. I miss AZ, but if I still lived there, my car would probably have over 100K miles by now. The garage keeps the bad weather AND the miles off of her I guess! I am going out and take the cover off for ten minutes..... oh it's a darn good looking car.... I'll be back in five....

It's going down to 9 degrees tonight. Drove my Crossfire to work Thursday (clear dry day). Snowed last night and my Crossfire is clean so I left it in the garage today and took my sons car to work just so I didn't have to dirty up my car (heck, his car is still my car anyway).

Cold this weekend but will still take her out for a ride as long as it's clear and not wet.

 

Sunny, clear skies, dry air and a high of 62 in south Texas. Not to rub it in.....
