The only thing I will say about the RX 8 is that I've only seen 1 try to run an autocross and it was slow. I have to admit that most of it's problem was the driver, though. The driver couldn't keep the rpm up in it's power band. In that respect they are a lot like the Honda S2000. But the big problem that a saw was that the RX 8 won't turn.... It pushes really badly. Bobafettm is very right about the RX7 turbos..There are a couple that autocross and they are quick and seem to handle very well. IMO Mazda had something that wasn't broken and they fixed it until they broke it.

James,

The regular 4 cylinder honda engines make more power and are lighter weight than the RX8 rotary, they burn less oil and get better economy.

This is why I don't see the point in the rotary engine. I'm sorry I didn't specify case studies. I'll be sure to do that from this point forward.

I'm aware of the rotary's supposed benefits, but I don't see them actually delivering in real world, practical applications.

I really enjoy James posts, he gives real meaning to the term "objectivity". No emotion, black or white, it is or isn't. Analytical to a fault. I like the little guy icon too - the antithesis of James. I would imagine an aviatar with a forked tail instead    Keep posting your comments James - I do like your POV.

I tested three cars - the 350Z, XFire, and Rx8. The Rx8 was a huge disapointment to me - it had no get up and go. Once it was already moving you could push it, but the time it takes to get from 0 - 30 was unbearable. The Z was very fast, but the interior was so godawful that I wanted to slap Nissan for trying to push off a 30k car with paper mache-looking leather and cheap cheap cheap plastic. The XFire was very fast, has a lovely interior, and just seems ready to pounce, and I fell in love with it (I also tested a hemi 300C, but that's another class). Between the three, the XFire is a clear winner IMHO, although I wouldn't mind some additional grunt from the engine.

By the way, I tested both the manual and autostick, and decided on the autostick because it gave me the convenience of city driving, with the ability to manually control by downshifting when passing on the freeway. But the manual definitely has its advanatages.

to devote your entire identity to attacking another individual is really pretty sad.

why don't you dump that silliness and find something positive instead? something healthy.

LOL!!! ... this is the internet buddy... attacking other people is a every day occurance I guess you havent been on other forums... I do this as a joke! I dont hate James at all!! I may tease him but it doesnt mean I dont want him here! its all in good fun... try posting someone with a question on a Rx8 forum ... you get a big old "STFU n00b" ... I hardly doubt you all know what that means... but on forums its a common sight...

want me to switch my avatar to something I find more humorous?

... Humor... laughing... its part of life

Bob you are just too too much :P :P - It's people like you and James that keep me coming back. Cars alone can become boring - Crossfires excepted

I have an observation somewhat related to this topic. I just spent 9 days in Las Vegas. Being from the midwest, nothing here compares to the "conspicuous consumption" of Las Vegas. This, of course, includes autos of all types. However, I was amazed that in 9 days of travel in the Las Vegas area to the Grand Canyon & Sedona, I did not see one, not one, Crossfire. Lots of Vets, Z's, Thunderbirds(yuck), a couple of RX 8's and TT's, but no Crossfires.

Where are the Crossfires hiding?

Any thoughts?

8) Let's see....if you were here for 9 days - part of that time we were in CA with all the other Cool XF owners for our Left-Coast Hook-Up 8)

If you really wanted to see other XF's, you should have let us know, we would have been happy to meet up with you if we were in town!!

Maybe you passed us and our "cloaking" was working :!: Of course, you were probably in the "tourist" area, not anywhere near where we were.
