Default Mileage & Fuel Price Check

I decided to give the fuel guage a test this time and run the fuel down low. When the guage stopped moving, I filled it up.

It took 15.2 gallons to fill it. The capacity according to DFWSBR is 15.85, so I still had about 1/2 gallon left.

I went 349 miles, so that is 22.96 mpg, and that is a mix of city and highway. I have no problem with that.

93 octane just went to $2.039 yesterday. That is up from $1.959 last Sunday, and $1.859 from April 10th. $31.00 to fill it up....

I wish I could move my pricing around like that!!!!

I get a fairly consistent 22 to 23 mpg for 50/50 city and highway. I, too, am happy with that.

As for gas prices...I think 91 octane is as high as it goes in CA, and I think I got a great deal paying $2.15 at ARCO...have seen it as high as $2.35 at some ARCO stations in more expensive areas. So strange, too, as the refineries are all right along the highway...how expensive can it be to truck it a few miles?

With only 1500 miles on mine, my last tank was 24 mpg (mix of city and highway) and premium fuel is about 1.90 a gallon around Atlanta.

Not bad on both counts....

wow...i just did the same thing and i got only 304 miles out of my tank...should i be worried? I'm driving stick too so i would assume better gas mileage for a stick vs auto.

i am new to stick so maybe my driving is inefficient...

Actualy the Auto gets better mpg in the Crossfire for some reason.
We are up to $2.25 for the Arco 91 in the Seattle area.

I have been averaging 25 in my auto-stick. Good thing, because the fuel prices here in Lancaster at Chevron are $2.399 for premium!! As I was leaving the shop today, an increase of 5 cents per came in on the web site at Chevron. Tomorrow's price will be $2.449.

On long drives I have gotten as good as 33mpg @ 65 mph, that's better than my PT Cruiser and worlds apart from my 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible!!!!!!!!!!

Gas out here in SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA for 91 octane ( thats all they have out here hi-octane wise ) is $2.27 a gallon and rising. As for mileage, on a ratio of about 80% freeway and 20% street, I average about 28mpg. Of course I have the POWERCHIP GOLD 91 software upgrade and I just can't say enuff about it. Horsepower increase of 15HP and great gas mileage, I am diggin' it. I've read about the UPSOLUTE software upgrade, but I am quite happy with my POWERCHIP software upgrade. POWERCHIP is a bit more dollar wise ( $150-$200 more ), but maybe they will go down in price seeing that their is a new kid in town. Also, POWERCHIP already modifies Mercedes-Daimler cars, so it is nothing new for them. Last I heard from them is they are still trying to go thru Daimler-Chrysler to officially be the updaters. Don't know the final story.

Upsolute only does German cars... VW, Audi, BMW, Porche, MB and now the Crossfire. My guess is that the remapping is more than likely pretty close to the same as Powerchip. The up side (no pun intended) is that with Upsolute, in most cases, you have a local rep to take your car to. If I'm not mistaken with the Powerchip you have to pull your ECU and send it to them and they send it back. My HP numbers are looking just a tad better but our fuel mileage is about the same.

You're right W, POWERCHIP is located in Santa Monica, so I just took my car over to 'em. They pulled the board out ( much like a computer board )
by sliding/pulling the 2 tabs that hold the board in place, did their voodoo number upstairs in their offices, and slipped the board right back in. Took 30 minutes top. Too bad they don't have reps around the country as UPSOLUTE does. Even more of an incentive to lower their prices. Still, for me, it is a worthwhile upgrade. When I took my XFIRE into the shop for the first oil change, the dude who drove my car said it felt more peppier than the othe XFIREs he had driven. I didn't tell him about the upgrade. For me, its a need to know basis, and the dealer don't need to know. But the extra horsies sure come into play when driving on the freeway to bypass those clogs that occur now and then. We both agree, I believe, that the software upgrade ( POWERCHIP/UPSOLUTE ) is the best thing we could do to get the max enjoyment from our XFIRE's.

With just 3000 miles on Blaze I think she is still getting broken in ;-) Plus I am definitely having way too much fun with the ponies....and that is still with stock everything. I have sofar seen averages of 23-25 mpg. But that could easily be improved if I was willing to slow down. $2.35 to $2.45 is what all that fun costs per gallon.
Still better than the $3.15 for avgas and 48 Gallons a fillup :-)

I only get to drive in town. On saturdays I take a different route to work so I can get it up to about 125-130mph on a two mile stretch of 'highway' which is posted at 45mph. I am averaging 17.5 to 18mph. Oh well, I am having fun and chose to live away from the freeways.
